For those out of the loop, Rolling Loud Miami 2022 has proven to be an action-packed weekend. Day one included a wild turn of events with Kid Cudi leaving the stage after festival-goers threw water bottles at the artist. Cudi stepped in as the replacement for Kanye West who decided he would not be performing as the headliner. The choice for Cudi was a curious one considering the existing beef between the duo who have brought us classic works such as their collaborative Kids See Ghosts project. Shortly after Cudi’s departure from the Rolling Loud stage as the day one headliner, West would appear as a guest during Lil Durk’s set. For day two, while the crowd seemed to regain control, another major guest appearance took place during Future’s headlining set. The rapper first brought out Lil Du...
“Is Dallas in this shit tonight?” Kendrick Lamar asked a roaring crowd before performing “Purple Hearts” from his new album Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers. “You know it’s been five years since I seen ya’ll, right? So I maybe a little bit rusty on this stage. I may need a little help. I think I need ya’ll to help me sing this … Let’s get it.” The last time Kendrick Lamar performed in Dallas was July 14th, 2017, when he brought the “DAMN. Tour” to the American Airlines Center. Then, he was one of hip hop’s biggest attractions with the highest-selling album of the year, on the verge of becoming the first-ever rapper to be awarded the prestigious Pulitizer Prize the following year, and arguably the new King of Rap. Exactly five years later, Lamar brought “The Big Steppers Tour” (get tickets...
Netflix is cracking down on users mooching off of their family members, friends, and exes: This summer, the streamer will begin to implement an “extra home” fee for those using the same account with people they don’t live with. The small fee, which equates to about $2 or $3, will go into effect on August 22th in Argentina, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras. “If your Netflix account is being used on a TV outside of your home, you will need to pay an extra $2.99 per month for each extra home. You will only be charged when you or someone who uses your account chooses to add an extra home—this fee will NOT be automatically charged,” Netflix wrote on their Honduras pricing page. After a trial period in the previously-mentioned countries, Netflix will start implem...
Chris Rock and Kevin Hart began their evening at Madison Square Garden with a rather puzzling bang. In the midst of a slew of controversies, Dave Chappelle was the surprise opener for the co-headlining gig Saturday night (July 23rd). “Had to sneak my way in here,” Chappelle, donning a Nirvana In Utero t-shirt, said after walking onstage to Radiohead’s Karma Police. “Despite what you may have read about in the news, I’m OK and I appreciate the support.” Chappelle’s 22-minute set comes just days after Minneapolis venue First Avenue canceled his show there due to backlash regarding his unyielding habit of transphobic jokes. After being forced to move locations, the comedian evidently took no notes from the criticism: “I can see a transgender hit squad coming from...

It’s hard to believe that Paul Simon has never played the Newport Folk Festival before, but there’s a first time for everything. Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats brought out the beloved singer-songwriter during their set, which happened to be a tribute to Simon. “This has been a real joy and an honor to do these songs and learn these songs as a tribute to our good friend Paul Simon and the work he’s done,” Rateliff said near the end of his set. “And I’d really love it if I could invite Paul Simon to the stage.” Together, they played “Graceland,” and then Simon handed Rhiannon Giddens the mic for a special updated rendition of “American Tune.” He then sang “The Boxer” with Jerry Douglas, Lucius, Rateliff and his “old family friend” Lukas Nelson, and closed the evening out with a chil...

Rage Against the Machine have had a bumpy start to their long-awaited reunion tour. Earlier this month at their Chicago gig, vocalist Zack de la Rocha appeared to injure his leg and has been performing while seated ever since. Now, guitarist Tom Morello has suffered a bit of a tumble, as TMZ and Rolling Stone point out. Last night (July 23), during the band’s show in Toronto, a security guard was apparently chasing down a man who had rushed onto the stage. As the security guard tackled the stage crasher, he also made contact with Morello, knocking the guitarist down as the band performed “Killing in the Name.” De la Rocha briefly stopped the show, saying, “hold up, hold up, hold up” as he waited to see if Morello was ok. Morello was then helped to his feet and returned to his post onstage....
