Thom Yorke has shared a solo rendition of Radiohead’s “Bloom” for a new Greenpeace ad. Check out the video, which is part of Shark Week, a campaign to protect the oceans, below. “In the last 50 years the global shark population has plummeted by 70 percent,” the video description notes. “Sharks are being wiped out by overfishing for profit. But our oceans can recover if we protect them.” Back in 2017, Radiohead collaborated with Hans Zimmer to rework “Bloom” for the BBC series Blue Planet II. That version, recorded with the BBC Concert Orchestra, was retitled “Ocean (Bloom).” Earlier this year, Yorke shared new solo songs “5.17” and “That’s How Horses Are,” as well as his album with Jonny Greenwood and Tom Skinner, the Smile’s A Light for Attracting Attention. Following a successful box office opening, Thor: Love and Thunder director Taika Waititi walked through specific scenes of the offbeat Marvel film in an interview with Insider. Those who have seen the film may have noticed that the two giant goats, Toothgnasher and Toothgrinder, sounded a little funny. Waititi was present to reveal why. “The goats were always going to be in there because they are in the comics, but we didn’t know how they would sound,” said Waititi. “Then someone in post-production found this meme of a Taylor Swift song that has screaming goats in it. I didn’t even know that existed. So I hear the screaming goats and I just felt it was awesome. A lot of people think it’s me screaming. It’s not.” The two giant mythical goats were first gifted to Thor (Chris Hemsworth) early...
Earlier this year, Netflix announced plans to launch a more affordable ad-supported tier in the hopes of compensating for its dropping subscription numbers, and now the streaming company has announced a partnership with Microsoft to make this happen. Announcing the news in a blog post, Netflix says it’ll be leveraging the tech giant’s advertising platform and network of clients to provide cheaper access for those who wish to subscribe to its streaming service but aren’t looking to spend too much. While no details have been provided around exactly how these ad-supported tiers will work, it’s likely the model will look similar to that of YouTube, which showcases ads at the beginning, end, and sometimes in the middle, of videos. “Microsoft has the proven ability to support all our advertising...
In celebration of the massive success of Breaking Bad, the New Mexico city of Albuquerque is now erecting statues of the show’s two main characters Walter White (Bryan Cranston) and Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul). The statues were commissioned by the critically acclaimed show’s creator Vince Gilligan himself back in 2019 and have now been gifted to the city’s government due to his desire to “give something back” to the location where the show was set. “Over the course of 15 years, two TV shows and one movie, Albuquerque has been wonderful to us,” Gilligan said, hoping the statues will be able to attract more tourism to the city. Despite his good intentions, however, some local residents have criticized the glamorization of the two drug dealers, especially given Albuquerque’s ongoing battle wit...

With Stavern Festival’s massive 2022 edition just hours away, let’s have a look back at the history of one of Norway’s biggest live music events. Stavernfestivalen—as it’s called in Norwegian—was launched way back in 2001, when its first iterations laid the foundation for what would eventually become one of the country’s most hyped festivals. Since its inception, Stavern took near the city of Larvik in South Norway, which is located in a key spot, reachable within less than two hours from the country’s capital of Oslo. But by 2015, the festival had well-transitioned from a small local event to a powerhouse brand. So it was time to move its location to the gigantic Larvik Golf Arena.
