Scared of Retinol? This New Eye Cream Will Convince You Otherwise

When it comes to the beauty ingredients that I’m asked about most frequently, retinol is undoubtedly up there at the top of the list. Plenty of my friends and family members have come to me wondering whether or not they actually need retinol or how to find a decent retinol serum to start with. For many people, retinol is the one ingredient that feels like totally uncharted territory. Why? If I had to hazard a guess, I’d say that a lot of us are totally terrified to start using retinol when there are so many stories out there about some of its potentially negative side effects. Trust me—I get it. I experienced an adverse reaction when trying a retinol cream for my acne a few years back. And in general, retinol can definitely cause irritation like dry skin and redness if you don&...

This Trend Has Suddenly Taken Over My IG Feed

Fashion loves to deal in opposites. On the one hand, we’ve got a resurgence of the naked dress. On the other hand, there’s, arguably, the opposite of the aforementioned look: suiting. In 2021, suits for women are on the rise. But there’s a particular twist to it that we’ve not seen for a while, and that’s the oversized fit. It’s less ’80s shoulder pad and more Diane Keaton in the mid-’90s. Matching isn’t a prerequisite, but the looser the silhouette, the better.  You Deserve to Make Money Even When you are looking for Dates Online. So we reimagined what a dating should be. I’ve Been Skipping Foundation Ever Since I Discovered This Bronzing Mist

Recently, I discovered the power of a holiday glow. Not necessarily a tan (the high factor SPF that we should all be wearing doesn’t really permit that) but a radiant glow. There’s a luminance to sunkissed summer skin that gives me the confidence every year to banish foundation to the bottom of my beauty bag and skip any other makeup bar the odd lashings of mascara and brow pencil. After the sun-kissed, stress-free skin of my early September holiday wore off, I was left with a seriously unperky looking complexion. The type that leaves people constantly asking: ‘Are you tired?’ But after getting used to not wearing foundation on a day-to-day basis I wasn’t ready to commit to going back to a full face of makeup. That’s when I came across the Amanda Harrington Face Illuminating...

Prediction: These 12 Coat Trends Will Be the First to Sell Out

Seeing as autumn seemed to kick into gear the moment October started, it’s handy that our favourite brands are brimming with beautiful coats right on cue. And just like buying swimwear and sandals early on in spring, we always advise investing in a coat at the start of the season, before most of the key styles sell out—which they inevitably will—leaving you with limited options. But which types of coats are on the style agenda for 2021? We’re glad you asked… On the outerwear menu this year, there are the classics—think camel coats, trenches and cosy faux fur—but there are also a few key styles that started out as microtrends but have now graduated to become winter-wardrobe must-haves well worth considering. Needless to say, both ...

This Jumper Styling Trick Will Make You Look Instantly Polished

Offering cropped, oversized, ribbed and cable-knit versions, high-street brands and designers alike have gone to town on this retro knit, making it so much more than a lowly layering device. Influencers, in particular, have been wearing theirs either with nothing underneath or with a light cami top, then adding a chunky chain necklace for a more polished finish. Suddenly, the cardigan has the credentials of an evening top. I can’t scroll through Instagram without seeing at least one fashion lover clad in a cardi-and-chain combo, and after rigorous trialling myself, I can confirm it’s an unbelievingly easy look to re-create. I have personally enjoyed wearing my black Sézane cardi on its own with a chunky gold chain and black trousers, but there are so many different ways to...

Hello! Adele Just Nailed the Perfect Autumnal Look

You’ve got to hand it to Adele, even when singing songs about heartbreak, she knows how to keep up the glam. In her latest track Easy On Me, which is the first to be released in five years, we see her appearing in a vinyl trench coat, roll neck, wide-leg trousers, loads of great chunky jewellery and a knock-out blow dry. While the video starts in black and white, it eventually goes to full colour, which gives us a look at the whole outfit which is a gorgeous autumnal maroon. The matching deep red nails and her signature eyeliner complete the look.  Recently, Adele’s appeared on both the covers of U.S. and British Vogue, in Valentino and Vivienne Westwood respectively. According to Lyst, the global shopping platform, after the covers were revealed searches for Viv...

Daniel Arsham Is Flipping the Script

London’s Regent’s Park has a new addition. Sitting in the midst of one of the park’s expansive green spaces — where it appeared overnight on Thursday, as if dropped from the sky — is the colossal, partly-eroded head of a Greek statue, flecked with patinated bronze, and easily reaching some 8ft in height. It’s a new work from Daniel Arsham, who was invited by the Frieze London art fair to contribute a work to its temporary sculpture garden as part of its revamped, post-COVID programming. It’s the first time Arsham has been involved in an art fair since Miami Basel in 2019, due to the endless closures and restrictions of global lockdowns. Yet he’s ambivalent, at best, about being back. “As a viewer, yes, I’m a fan of art fairs. But not as an artist,” he says. “I just never really felt like a...

Daniel Arsham Transforms KÖNIG GALERIE Into a Hall of Antiquities

Daniel Arsham has his hands in many different artistic projects at the moment, from his recent ‘CRYSTALIZED CHARMANDER,’ a collaboration with Tiffany & CO., to his otherworldy exhibition at China’s UCCA Dune Museum. For those of you who are currently in Berlin, the artist is currently showcasing an exhibition entitled, “UNEARTHED” at KÖNIG GALERIE. As his first solo exhibition in the German capital, the show transforms the former brutalist church of St. Agnes, into a wunderkammer of antiquities. Past meets present as Augustus Ceasar, Apollo and Venus are reimagined through Arsham’s characteristic approach of recasting and eroding these figures for new eyes. Adjacent to the sculptural works are some of Arsham’s largest paintings to date, which equally present these deities to the backdr...

Beyoncé Stuns in Opulent Ballgown at ‘The Harder They Fall’ Premiere: See Photos

Jay-Z, meanwhile, was seen enjoying himself following the screening of The Harder They Fall. According to TMZ, the “Jail” rapper held an event after the movie screening, where he was seen with a band and gave an impromptu performance of “Gotta Have It,” a cut from Watch the Throne — Jay-Z’s Billboard 200-topping collaborative album with Kanye West. The official synopsis of the film reads, “When outlaw Nat Love discovers that his enemy Rufus Buck is being released from prison he rounds up his gang to track Rufus down and seek revenge. Those riding with him in this assured, righteously new school Western include his former love Stagecoach Mary, his right and left hand men hot-tempered Bill Pickett and fast drawing Jim Beckwourth and a surprising...

Gosha Levochkin Releases a 20-Color Screenprint

New York-based artist Gosha Levochkin recently unveiled a new exhibition at Los Angeles’ Over the Influence gallery, entitled, “Secret Button.” The show presents a series of new abstract paintings — each mapping out what the artist intends as a somewhat aerial map of a video game — a chaotic puzzle that moves the eye from corner to corner. To complement the show, the artist has worked with concept store, Garey the Third, on a limited-edition 20-color screenprint called Push Start to Continue. Known for his spatial compositions that showcase characters with minimal features, Levochkin riddles his work with a number of elements that reference his personal childhood — from playing in abandoned cars as a kid, to his love for graffiti, comics, and Japanese animation. Push Start to Continue...

Haroshi to Release Three New Sculptures at Cat Art Show 2021

Susan Michals is a journalist and curator who has worked with the likes of Dustin Hoffman and Robert Downey Jr., along with producing award-winning documentaries, such as This is Orsen Welles. However, chief amongst her interests is a love of cats — so much so, that in 2014, she started CatCon and the Cat Art Show. The event has grown to the point that it has become the premier cat art expo in the world. To complement this year’s event, acclaimed Japanese artist, Haroshi, has created three intricate wooden sculptures. An owner of three cats himself, Haroshi uses his signature material — recycled skateboard decks — to make elaborate feline figures that appear as if they belonged to an ancient civilization. Cat Art Show 4: A New Beginning will present the work of over 70 different artists sp...
