Short-Lived Perfume Is the Worst, so I Found 18 That Will Last All Day

Anticipating the turn of the season always sparks a bit of fragrance restlessness for us beauty editors. Perhaps it’s because we’re constantly taking mental notes of the scents our favourite fashion girls are wearing, or perhaps it’s just that our gigantic fragrance collections have us on an endless rotation through the chic tonics on our vanities. Whatever the case may be, long-lasting perfumes that can keep up with our busy schedules are of the utmost importance. With days that sometimes start with breakfast meetings, get punctuated with Zoom calls, and end with happy hour, we need fragrances that will still be going strong for our that second glass of pinot grigio. Luckily, long-lasting fragrances abound! From pretty florals to enveloping musks and earthy scents t...

Finally, a Range of Great High-Street Boots That Actually Fit My Calves

I still remember the embarrassment all these years later. I was about 15 years old and was shopping with my mum (still my number one person for an honest opinion), and I got stuck in a pair of black suede boots from Schuh. I so desperately wanted them to fit around my calves, so I squeezed every last centimetre of life out of the side zip and then couldn’t get out of them. Panic, a hot flush and an emergency payment ensued. I eventually managed to get the boots stretched at a cobbler and wore them in a lot, and they ended up being a pair that worked for some time, but was it worth the public shame? Probably not.  Fact is, knee-high boots are often designed and manufactured with only the slimmest of legs in mind. I’m only a size 10-12 and petite at 5’1&...

AC Schnitzer Tunes the BMW M3 Competition for 582 HP

AC Schnitzer has just unveiled its latest performance-tuned BMW. Made for the track, AC Schnitzer has further developed the G80 BMW M3 Competition for added power, handling, and of course, aggressive styling. Power sees an increase in almost 80 horsepower at 582hp and 553 lb-ft of torque while handling gets bumped up via a new spring kit with RS coilovers. This setup lowers the front of the car by 15-20mm. There is also a slight reduction in weight thanks to the AC3 lightweight forged wheels. One of the more prominent upgrades can be found in the form of new aero parts for the sports car. On top of the roof spoiler and modest carbon rear wing that produce 44lbs and 154lbs of downforce, respectively, there’s also a front splitter, a four-piece front canard set, and a rear diffuser. Ma...

Refik Anadol and BVLGARI Create a Multi-Sensory Experience in Milan

Refik Anadol is a Turkish artist and director who utilizes the latest in artificial intelligence to crunch massive algorithms into hypnotizing data sculptures. As a meteoric figure in the world of art, Roman luxury house, BVLGARI, enlisted Anadol for its latest installation, Serpenti Metamorphosis, which recently debuted at the Piazza del Duomo in Milan. Claimed as the first AI artwork made for a luxury brand, the installation explores the relationship between technology and art by celebrating nature through machine learning algorithms. For example, Anadol has meticulously set up the machine to learn an image of a flower or a snake, which will then learn corresponding images to its color, shape and patterns — creating a memory bank of information that continuously recasts the sculpture in ...

Hunter Potter’s “Gimme Shelter” Examines the Joy and Peril of Installing Roofs

Hunter Potter is a multi-disciplinary artist who creates whimsical paintings and sculptures that comment on the minutiae of daily life. Based in New York, he is currently exhibiting a new body of work, entitled, “Gimme Shelter” at Ross + Kramer Gallery in East Hampton. “Gimme Shelter” examines Potter’s coming of age living in Upstate New York as a full-time roofer. He nostalgically uses these memories to create characters he described in a statement with the gallery as “some of the hardest working, most innovative, and resilient men [he] could imagine.” Roofing is the epitome of blue-collar work, according to Potter, where you’re quite literally putting a roof on someone’s head. “You learn what the sun is capable of as it blisters your back and forearms while you provide delightful and wat...

“Waterfalls & Clouds” Presents a Joint Body of Work From Ugo Rondinone and Pat Steir

Galerie Eva Presenhuber in Zurich is holding a largescale joint exhibition by Swiss sculpturist, Ugo Rondinone and American painter, Pat Steir. In “Waterfalls & Clouds,” the color that is typically cast onto Rondinone’s monoliths are pared back to emphasize the raw beauty of the pebble-studded concrete. Static yet fluid, the amorphous sculptures — faces, look and twisted — are the final three of 20 made by the artist, which is titled according to the poem, “we run through a desert on burning feet, all of us are glowing our golden faces look twisted and shiny.” No matter the vantage point, faces, look and twisted quite literally has you inspecting over and over again for a singular vision of the artwork. Although distinctly different, Steir’s paintings have a symbiotic relationship...

Rare One-Owner Ferrari F40 Berlinetta Heads to Auction

The Ferrari F40 is unquestionably one of the greatest and most legendary supercars of all time, and this 1989 F40 Berlinetta “Non-Cat, Non-Adjust” iteration is without fail a fine example that’s heading to auction with Bonhams. With just one owner from new, this F40 is perhaps one of the cleanest examples to ever hit the market. Finished in the factory-supplied color of “Rosso Corsa,” and being just one of the 1,315 examples ever made, the classic supercar also comes with optional extras such as wind-up windows and air conditioning — remember, this is basically a road-going F1-derived car, and is one of Ferrari‘s most visceral and hardcore models ever made, so ticking the option box for things such as this aren’t as alien as you’d expec...

Lunaz Launches Aston Martin Electric Vehicle Restomods

The classic James Bond automotive is officially getting an electric vehicle makeover. British company Lunaz, is set to offer electric versions of the iconic Aston Martin DB4, DB5 and DB6. The price tag for the substantial shift for the DB5 and DB6 is looking into the seven-figure valuation. While there is limited information on the pricing, the DB6 is expected to be cheaper but will still “exceed $1 million USD plus local taxes.” According to Top Gear, Lunaz has specifically been programmed to allow for “brisk initial acceleration with the requirements of a classic car that is very much built in the mode of a Grand Tourer.” The electrified Db6 is said to have a range of approximately 255 miles, which is more than is expected from a non-EV DB6. Not much detail has be...

Audi Pumps More Power Into the R8 V10 Performance RWD Coupé and Spyder

The Audi R8 has been with us since 2006, and over the past 15 years it has appeared in many variants, the most exciting of which is the R8 V10 Performance RWD, which today has been given an update for the 2022 model year. As Sebastian Grams, Managing Director of Audi Sport GmbH, says, “The Audi R8 V10 RWD really struck a chord with customers right from the start with its rear-wheel-drive derived from the R8 LMS racecar and its unfiltered dynamics.” To add to this experience, Audi has pumped an extra 30 HP and 10 Nm of torque into the car’s naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V10 FSI engine, resulting in a total output of 570 HP and 550 Nm. To help the RWD car cope in all kinds of conditions, the mechanical limited-slip differential has been fettled with to make sure that the ri...

Citroën Wants You to Customize Your AMI With Flames and Kittens

French automotive company Citroën is known in the industry for having a sense of humor, for not taking itself too seriously, and it has made an effort to prove this point once again with its customization program for the all-electric AMI city car. Six patterns have been designed in-house for those who want to add some flavor to their AMI, ranging from jungle to tutti-frutti, a British “globetrotter” theme, camouflage, “Tribe,” and finally, “Trendy.” The stickers can be applied to various areas of the AMI, and are bought individually to be applied by the owner rather than the factory. Additionally, customers can also send in their own pictures and photos to be made by Faab Fabricauto who will produce a custom sticker for your car, which can be applied in ...

The Jewish Museum of Belgium Will Hold an Exhibition on Sol Lewitt

The Jewish Museum of Belgium will present a new retrospective on famed conceptual artist, Sol Lewitt. In “SOL LEWITT – WALL DRAWINGS, WORKS ON PAPER, STRUCTURES (1968 – 2002),” the exhibition aims to highlight the diversity in his work, particularly to the lesser-known work that relates to his Jewish faith. Although the artist lived a fairly secular life, he always held “discreet but tenacious ties to his Jewish heritage,” according to the museum. Amongst the work on display, the exhibition will feature archival drawings, photographs and testimonies for the artwork he created for the Reformed Congregation Beth Shalom Rodfe Zede, which opened in 2001. Additionally, the exhibition will examine Lewitt’s close relationship he developed with Belgian artists, collectors, and gallery owners. All ...
