The Conjuring continues with Warner Bros. and New Line developing a prequel for the franchise.
According to Variety, short film director Rodrigue Huart is currently in discussions to direct. Richard Naing and Ian Goldberg, who co-wrote a number of films in the main series and The Nun II, will supposedly write again. Additional details, including the return of Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson as Ed and Lorraine Warren, remain under wraps.
News of another Conjuring film doesn’t come as a surprise, despite Last Rites initially being billed as the mainline’s final movie entry. The most recent title ended up earning a franchise-breaking $487 million USD in the global box office.
In addition to the prequel, a Conjuring series on HBO is currently in the works.
