Kneecap Announce New Album Fenian, Share New Song "Liars Tale"

Kneecap have announced a new album, Fenian, out on April 24th via Heavenly Recordings. They’ve also revealed the new song “Liars Tale.”

Fenian serves as Kneecap’s third studio album and arrives as a response to their critics and controversy over the last year, particularly at the hands of British government. Produced by Dan Carey, the record will feature Kneecap’s signature high-energy, rave-heavy sound, with rapping in a mix of Irish and English.

“They tried to stop us by branding Kneecap ‘terrorists’, with cancellations, with statements from the Prime Minister himself,” said Kneecap’s Mo Chara, Móglaí Bap, and DJ Próva in a statement. “We had all the motivation we needed…this isn’t a swift reaction, but a considered response to those that tried to silence us. And failed.”

They continued: “Inspired by, and proudly named Fenian, who were warriors in Irish folklore, and later a derogatory term for the Irish. Now we’re using it to name everyone speaking truth to power. After 800 years of colonisation, they thought the Irish language would die, it didn’t. Thanks to Muintir na Gaeltachta, and all the Gaels who refused to let their culture and language be destroyed. And KNEECAP is much the same…we haven’t gone away. The Paddies are back.”

To preview Fenian, Kneecap have revealed the thumping “Liars Tale.” With strobing synths and furious bars in Irish and English from Mo Chara and Móglaí Bap, “Liars Tale” is yet another visceral rave punk moment for the Irish trio. Throughout, they take aim at British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, skewering his attempts at silencing the group’s impassioned calls for an end to genocide, war, apartheid, and oppression. “Starmer is a scumbag, don’t accept it,” the group said of “Liars Tale.” “There’s no good in their politics and the belly of the beast is feeding overseas.” Stream the new track below.

Kneecap’s last album was 2024’s Fine Art, which arrived alongside a separate biographical film depicting the group’s origins, philosophy, and rise in popularity. The trio made headlines last year as they toured in support of Fine Art, stoking controversy after promoting messages at Coachella and Glastonbury criticizing Israel’s genocide of Palestinians in Gaza.

The British government also attempted to charge Mo Chara with a terror offense, citing alleged support for Hamas and Hezbollah at a November 2024 concert; the charges, which were later dropped in September 2025, led to Kneecap having to cancel their North American tour. Throughout the last year, the trio unveiled new songs “The Recap,” “Sayōnara,” and recent cut “No Comment,” none of which will appear on Fenian.
