Steve Perry says he will not be rejoining Journey on their final tour.
In a recent interview, Jonathan Cain claimed that Neal Schon has been in talks with Perry about the possibility, and that Perry hadn’t ruled it out. “He didn’t say no — leave it at that,” Cain said.
However, in a statement issued late Thursday night, Perry dispelled the speculation, writing that “the rumors about me rejoining the band are simply not true, and I want to gently put them to rest.”

“I completely understand why people would hope for that,” Perry added. “The music we created together means a great deal to me too. But I’m continuing to explore new creative work and really enjoy working on new music that reflects where I am today.”
As such, the lineup for Journey’s upcoming tour will feature Cain, Schon, singer Arnel Pineda, keyboardist-vocalist Jason Derlatka, drummer-vocalist Deen Castronovo, and bassist Todd Jensen, and not Perry. Get tickets here.
