US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has reversed the suspension on the flight crew who flew a pair AH-64 Apache helicopters by Kid Rock’s uburban Nashville home.
“Thank you @KidRock. @USArmy pilots suspension lifted. No punishment. No investigations. Carry on, patriots,” Hegseth announced on Twitter/X on Tuesday evening. He closed his message with an American flag emoji as if that symbol actually meant anything anymore.
Over the weekend, the two aircraft were seen hovering directly outside Kid Rock’s “Southern White House,” which the rapper-singer had built in the likeness of the actual White House. Originally, it was believed that the flyby had occurred while the helicopters were monitoring a “No Kings” rally in Nashville, but a spokesman for the 101st Airborne Division clarified that the helicopters were instead on a routine training mission.

Before the flight crew’s suspension was announced, the 101st Airborne Division promised to conduct a full investigation, stating that “The 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and Fort Campbell maintain strict standards for aviation safety, professionalism, and adherence to established flight regulations. We take all concerns regarding aircraft operations and their impact on the surrounding community seriously.”
Donald Trump was also asked about the flyby and suspension during a gaggle with reporters on Tuesday evening. His answer may or may not surprise you.
“I didn’t see it, no, but I’m sure they had a good time,” Trump said. “They probably shouldn’t have been doing it. You’re not supposed to be playing games, right? I’d take a look at it. They like Kid Rock, I like Kid Rock. Maybe they were trying to defend him, I don’t know.”
