Aurel Schmidt’s got a thing for trash, because when you’re a city girl, of course. Take her beloved Trash Dolls series for instance, where cigarette butts, stray pills, toys make up mischievous characters. The New York-based artist has officially unveiled a new collaboration collection with luggage heavy-hitter PORTER, taking her beautifully lawless motifs onto a new canvas.
The collaboration features a four-piece range — a backpack, a two-way tote, a roll Boston bag and a two-way Madison bag — each completed with colorful zipper detailing and added omamori charm for a playful punches of Japanese flair.
Schmidt enters on an all-over design packed with exclusive illustrations inspired by her time in Japan with subtle nods to PORTER’s own heritage throughout; fish heads, fruit peels, lucky charms, loose yen and dime bags become one on white nylon, and because the fabric is cut at random, no two pieces are exactly alike.
The Aurel Schmidt x PORTER collection is now available via select PORTER stores and the official Yoshida & Co. website.
