Seat belts, everyone: Elizabeth Banks is in the driver’s seat for Magic School Bus, a live-action adaptation of the beloved animated series, The Magic School Bus.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Banks will play elementary school teacher Ms. Frizzle, while Rob Letterman (Shark Tale, Detective Pikachu) will write and direct. Banks has been trying to play Ms. Frizzle since at least 2020.
The Magic School Bus was based on the book series by Joanna Cole and Bruce Degen and premiered as a cartoon in 1994. Lily Tomlin voiced Ms. Frizzle in the original run, and Kate McKinnon took over as Ms. Frizzle’s cousin in the 2017 sequel series, The Magic School Bus Rides Again.
