Netflix has officially unveiled the gripping debut trailer for The Whisper Man, its highly anticipated feature film adaptation of Alex North’s bestselling 2019 psychological thriller novel. Enlisting a heavy-hitting cast, the upcoming streaming release plunges viewers into a dark, multi-generational hunt for an elusive serial killer.
Directed by James Ashcroft, the cinematic adaptation follows Tom Kennedy (played by Adam Scott), a widowed crime writer whose life is upended when his young son is suddenly abducted. Desperate for answers, Tom is forced to reconnect with his estranged father, Peter (played by Robert De Niro), a retired police detective. Together, the duo uncovers a terrifying connection between the boy’s disappearance and a decades-old case involving a notorious convicted serial killer nicknamed “The Whisper Man”—the very monster Peter put behind bars years prior.
The tense screenplay was penned by Ben Jacoby and Chase Palmer, ensuring a faithful yet uniquely harrowing adaptation of North’s source material. Rounding out the stellar ensemble cast are Michelle Monaghan, Hamish Linklater, and Owen Teague. The film is produced by AGBO’s Anthony and Joe Russo, marking the latest high-profile collaboration between the production powerhouse and the streaming platform.
