A Prophetic Return: Clipse Unleashes 'Let God Sort Em Out'

Summary

  • Clipse has released their fourth studio album, Let God Sort Em Out, after 16 years
  • The 13-track record features Kendrick Lamar, Tyler, the Creator, and is entirely produced by Pharrell

Clipse is back. After 16 long years, Pusha T and Malice have delivered their fourth studio album Let God Sort Em Out.

Clocking in at 35 minutes, the 13-track record marks the pair’s first since the beloved Til the Casket Drops. It features a myriad of guest features including John Legend and Voices Of Fire on the opener “The Birds Don’t Sing,” Kendrick Lamar on “Chains & Whips,” Tyler, the Creator on “P.O.V.,” Stove God Cooks on “F.I.C.O.,” Ab-Liva on “Inglorious Bastards” and “Let God Sort Em Out/Chandeliers.” Pharrell, who produced the album in its entirety, also hops on the tracks “All Things Considered” with The-Dream, “E.B.I.T.D.A.,” “So Far Ahead” and “By The Grace Of God.”

Although the Virginia Beach duo were away for quite some time, Clipse returns with full force. It’s almost as if they never left. Let God Sort Em Out reflects on the events that have transpired in the past 16 years — from familial sorrow to fallen idols and the new setup of the rap game — without sounding outdated, whiney or washed. Pharrell’s enthralling production (Clipse’s first album without the Neptunes) also helps set Malice and Push up for success as he delivers superb and inspired beats that just fuses perfectly with the two. The record comes out as refined and purposeful, reiterating that Push and Malice don’t need to “find” their place in modern hip-hop. They’ve always been here, waiting for the right time to strike.
