A24 is giving fans an early glimpse into its highly anticipated film Mother Mary with a brand-new behind-the-scenes video. Written and directed by David Lowery, the upcoming psychological drama-thriller boasts a star-studded cast led by Oscar-winning actress Anne Hathaway, alongside Michaela Coel, Hunter Schafer, and FKA twigs.
The narrative follows the story of an iconic pop star, Mother Mary (played by Hathaway), as she prepares for a massive comeback performance. Tensions arise when she reunites with her estranged best friend and former costume designer, Sam Anselm (Coel), causing long-buried wounds to resurface. The newly released footage highlights the cast’s palpable chemistry, with Hathaway expressing her deep connection to the project.
Further elevating the cinematic experience, Mother Mary will feature original music performed by Hathaway, exclusively written and produced by industry heavyweights Jack Antonoff, Charli xcx, and FKA twigs. The expansive supporting cast also includes Kaia Gerber, Atheena Frizzell, Jessica Brown Findlay, Alba Baptista, Isaura Barbé-Brown, and Sian Clifford. “You haven’t seen anything like this before,” Coel teases at the end of the behind-the-scenes clip.
