Aaron Sorkin’s follow-up to The Social Network has gone from a wild idea to a very real thing: The upcoming movie has now been titled The Social Reckoning and given a release date of October 9th, 2026.
Additionally, some of the movie’s biggest casting rumors have been confirmed, with brand-new Oscar winner Mikey Madison set to star as Frances Haugen, the young engineer who blew the whistle on Facebook’s behavior to Wall Street Journal reporter Jeff Horwitz, who will be played by Jeremy Allen White.
Jeremy Strong, meanwhile, has been confirmed to play Mark Zuckerberg. The Succession star inherits the role from The Social Network’s Jesse Eisenberg, who has been open about no longer wanting to be associated with the tech founder.

Here’s the official description for the project, courtesy of Sony:
A companion piece to the hit film The Social Network, Sorkin’s original screenplay tells the true story of how Frances Haugen (Madison), a young Facebook engineer, enlists the help of Jeff Horwitz (White), a Wall Street Journal reporter, to go on a dangerous journey that ends up blowing the whistle on the social network’s most guarded secrets.
Sorkin won his first Oscar for writing The Social Network, and The Social Reckoning will be his fourth film as director, following Molly’s Game, The Trial of the Chicago 7, and Being the Ricardos. He is also allegedly considering a reboot of The West Wing.
