Anne Hathaway Sings Charli XCX-Penned Song “Burial” from Mother Mary Soundtrack

Anne Hathaway Sings Charli XCX-Penned Song "Burial" from Mother Mary Soundtrack

A24 has released the first song from the upcoming film Mother Mary. Titled “Burial,” the track is performed by Anne Hathaway and was written by Charli XCX. Stream it below.

“Burial” is a taste of what to expect from Hathaway in the highly anticipated film, where she stars as the titular pop icon. A synth-heavy thumper with energetic vocals from Hathaway, who could have a very successful career if she pivoted to singing full-time today, the track evokes the feeling of dancing in front of a fog machine as it plays.

It’s worth mentioning just how good Hathaway sounds as a genuine pop star. Maybe it’s because this isn’t her first rodeo when it comes to singing. She has performed music on multiple film soundtracks, including Les Misérables and Río.
