Anne Hathaway To Star in True Crime Series ‘Fear Not’ for Paramount+

Anne Hathaway To Star in True Crime Series ‘Fear Not’ for Paramount+

Summary

  • Anne Hathaway returns to TV to star in and produce Fear Not, a Paramount+ limited series dropping in 2027
  • Based on a Vanity Fair true crime story, the drama explores the spiritual bond formed between a serial killer and his final abductee
  • The role adds to Hathaway’s stacked upcoming schedule, sitting alongside The Devil Wears Prada 2 and Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey

Anne Hathaway is adding another major title to her slate, officially signing on to star in and executive produce Fear Not, a new six-episode limited series for Paramount+. Marking her first television project since 2022’s WeCrashed, the drama adapts a Vanity Fair story by Julie Miller that chronicles the harrowing — and surprisingly spiritual — encounter between prolific serial killer Stephen Morin and his final abductee, Margy Palm. Hathaway will take on the role of Palm in a narrative that promises to explore the “nuance and gravity” of a deadly situation turned transformative.

The show, adapted by Bash Doran (Boardwalk Empire, Outlaw King) centers on the true events where Palm’s abduction evolved from a terrifying captivity into a relationship defined by compassion, prayer, and courage. According to the official logline, Palm’s “devotion to her faith and her insistence that Morin could be transformed” forged a bond that persisted long after her release, right up until Morin’s execution. “By grounding this chilling true story in the lived experience of our protagonist, Anne is bringing a level of nuance and gravity to the screen that only a performer of her caliber can,” Jane Wiseman, head of originals for Paramount+, told Deadline.

Fear Not is currently slated for a 2027 release on Paramount+. Produced by MGM Television, the series features a heavyweight team of executive producers including Hathaway, Helen Estabrook of Vanity Fair Studios, and the real-life Palm family. This project joins a massive upcoming itinerary for Hathaway, who also has five films arriving this year, including The Devil Wears Prada 2, A24’s Mother Mary, and Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey.
