Bad Bunny's Super Bowl Halftime Show Leads to 245% Spike in Travel Interest to Puerto Rico

Bad Bunny’s unforgettable halftime show at Super Bowl LX has driven a massive increase in travel searches for his home of Puerto Rico.

Billboard reports that flight searches for Puerto Rico have increased a whopping 245% in the days since his halftime show at the big game on February 8th. Fans (new and old) everywhere are eager to learn more about the culture of the territory, thanks to its display when he took to the field.

Puerto Rico’s capital, San Juan, saw flight searches jump up 240% while Bad Bunny’s hometown, Vega Baja, spiked to a 1,450% increase (these numbers come from flight search data on Expedia.com from February 8th through 11th of this year, in comparison to searches made on the same days as last year).

The power of Bad Bunny’s show didn’t stop at just making Puerto Rico even more popular. Other Latin American countries saw similar flight search surges, such as Mexico by 210%, Brazil and Colombia by 120%, and Argentina with 70%.

Bad Bunny also inspired more people to explore attending shows abroad (he is not current playing to play shows in the continental US over concerns that ICE may target his fans.) Flight searches to London spiked 90% ahead of his upcoming show in June, while searches for Madrid and São Paolo have increases of 20% and 35% respectively.

Bad Bunny’s halftime show averaged 128.2 million viewers throughout its runtime at Super Bowl LX, making it the 4th most watched Super Bowl halftime show in history. It was a symbolic and strikingly beautiful affair, featuring a real couple’s wedding with a performance from Lady Gaga, a couple’s real engagement proposal, a surprise appearance from Ricky Martin, and subtle, but powerful references to Puerto Rico’s power grid crisis.
