Bnxn releases new hot album “CAPTAIN”
Nigerian singer Bnxn has unveiled his highly anticipated sophomore studio album titled “CAPTAIN,” released under T.Y.E. and EMPIRE.
The 16-track body of work is a bold, cohesive statement that reflects Bnxn’s growth, artistic depth, and command in the ever-evolving Afro-fusion landscape. With “CAPTAIN,” Bnxn sails confidently across a sea of sounds—fusing Afro-Fusion, Afrobeats, R&B, and pop into a fluid, genre-defying project.
In a recent Grammy interview, Bnxn offered insight into the album’s inspiration and symbolism:
“‘Captain’ was a name my friends used to call me to give me this position of leadership. But I saw a deeper meaning—especially in my music. I see myself as a pirate, a captain on a ship. I watched Pirates of the Caribbean the entire summer I was working on the album. In this ocean of an industry, particularly in Nigeria, I see myself as someone who’s had to rise through skill and persistence. That’s what ‘CAPTAIN’ represents.”
He also revealed how personally connected he feels to the album, saying:
“It felt very, very personal. I was skeptical about releasing a single because the album already felt complete—as if removing a song would be like taking a block out of a building.”
“CAPTAIN” features a stellar lineup of guest artists including Rema, Seyi Vibez, Victony, FOLA, and the legendary Soweto Gospel Choir. Each collaboration adds a unique texture to the project, while maintaining the cohesive, introspective energy that runs throughout the album.
The release was preceded by several standout singles:
- “Very Soon”
- “Cutesy”
- “Phenomena”
- “Fi Kan We Kan” featuring Rema
To support the album, Bnxn is set to embark on a North American tour, starting August 22 in Boston, USA, and wrapping up on September 19 in Edmonton, Canada. The tour marks another milestone in his expanding global reach.
With “CAPTAIN,” Bnxn doesn’t just release an album—he declares his place at the helm of modern African music, steering the sound into bold, uncharted waters.
