Bowen Yang will leave Saturday Night Live following this weekend’s Christmas episode, marking the end of his seven-season run on the show. Variety was the first to report news of Yang’s exit.
Yang first joined SNL as a writer in 2018 for Season 44. He later the cast as a featured player for Season 45, and was promoted to the main cast beginning with Season 47.
He is the latest major departure for SNL in recent months: Ego Nwodim, Heidi Gardner, Michael Longfellow, Devon Walker, and John Higgins of Please Don’t Destroy all left the show ahead of its Season 51 premiere earlier this year.
