Top 5 cryptocurrencies to watch this week: BTC, ADA, AXS, LINK, FTT

Bitcoin (BTC) is attempting to notch its second successive weekly gains and end at the highest weekly closing price year-to-date. According to on-chain data from Glassnode, the recovery in Bitcoin’s price was driven by demand in the spot markets. This is likely to cheer the bulls because history suggests that spot market demand leads to sustained upside. Another positive sign is the strong demand for the ProShares Bitcoin Strategy exchange-traded fund (BITO) in the past two weeks, which pushed its exposure to a record high. Arcane Research said the strong inflows “suggest that Bitcoin appetite through traditional investment vehicles is increasing.” Crypto market data daily view. Innovative cities across America are racing to become the next hot spot for cryptocurrency and blockchain adoption. Miami was the first city to adopt its own part of CityCoins last year, allowing it to implement its own cryptocurrency called “MiamiCoin” to be used for civic engagement.  New York City has also made a name for itself as a crypto-friendly city by implementing educational initiatives and withMayor Eric Adams receiving his paycheck in Bitcoin (BTC) in January this year.  Austin takes a strong stance  Most recently, Austin — the state capital of Texas that goes by the slogan “Keep Austin Weird” — has taken a strong interest in cryptocurrency and blockchain technology. What is a cryptocurrency mixer and how does it work?

The rapid expansion of cryptocurrencies and the development of crypto infrastructure and vulnerabilities like crypto mixers or tumblers have been a source of concern for government agencies in charge of financial security. Many people use crypto mixers to keep their cryptocurrency transactions private by mixing potentially identifiable cryptocurrency funds with vast sums of other funds. These services are often used to anonymize fund transfers between services and do not require Know Your Customer (KYC) checks. As a result, the risk of employing crypto mixers to launder money or conceal earnings is pretty considerable. Mixers and online gambling sites have the most severe money laundering issues, as they process the vast majority of dirty currencies. Mixers, for example, have consistently ...

Dogecoin signals bottoming out as DOGE rebounds 30% in two weeks — What’s next?

A brutal correction witnessed in the Dogecoin (DOGE) market between May 2021 and February 2022, which saw the price dropping by almost 85%, appears to have come to a halt this month. DOGE/USD rebounds 30% in two weeks DOGE experienced strong dip-buying when its price crashed to levels around $0.10 two weeks ago, resulting in a 30% rebound move to $0.14 as of March 27. Meanwhile, the coin’s upside retracement originated at a support level that constitutes a “falling wedge” setup, signaling an extended bullish reversal in the weekly sessions ahead. In detail, a falling wedge pattern occurs when the price trends lower while fluctuating between two downward sloping, converging trendlines. In a perfect scenario, the setup results into the price breaking out of the descending r...

Here is how studying tokens’ price history helps patient traders enjoy consistent average gains.

Whether you consider cryptocurrency trading as art, science or a game of skill, one thing is beyond dispute: Those who excel at it are not the traders who maintain the longest series of lucky one-offs but those who establish sustainable trading processes yielding consistent returns. Ask a sample of seasoned pros if they would prefer to catch one obscure token’s 300%-in-a-day brush with fame or learn a strategy that systematically generates a 3% return on investment. You will be surprised how many of them (likely close to 100% of the sample) prefer modest yet systematic profits. How does one make their trading processes more systematic? One way is to rely on automated data analytics tools with a proven track record of consistent performance. One such tool is the VORTECS™ Score, an ar...

Privacy coins are surging. Will regulatory pressure stall their stellar run?

Recent weeks saw a massive surge of the so-called privacy coins’ prices — namely Monero (XMR), Dash (DASH), Zcash (ZEC) and Haven Protocol (XHV). As many other cryptocurrencies and the industry at large faced immense regulatory pressure amid the war in Ukraine, one narrative that began taking hold in the crypto space was the potential of such privacy-enhancing assets to provide investors a greater level of financial anonymity. But, can privacy coins deliver on Bitcoin’s (BTC) original promise?  A good month for privacy-focused assets Over the past month, Monero has almost doubled its tally. With some minor oscillations, it rose from $134 on Feb. 24 to over $200 on March 26. ZEC showed even more impressive dynamics that hiked from $88 to $202 over the same period. DASH also pulled off ...

Understanding the Risks to Cryptocurrency Trading

Sourced from Hacker Noon. Alongside self-fertilizing crops and low-carbon shipping, cryptocurrencies have made the World Economic Forum (WEF) list of top tech trends in 2022 bolstered by research by the Thomson Reuters Foundation that describes it as moving from the ‘fringes of finance to the mainstream’. Perceptions around cryptocurrencies have shifted, with several countries adopting it as legal tender, banks looking to create their own forms of digital currency, and consumers putting their savings into crypto wallets instead of traditional financial institutions. Anna Collard, SVP Content Strategy & Evangelist at KnowBe4 Africa. Countries are either considering or are already partially using Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC), which essentially allows for companies and individuals...

Love it or hate it, crypto’s vibe shift is now imminent

Last month, cultural critic Alison P. Davis published an article in The Cut titled “A Vibe Shift is Coming. Will Any of Us Survive It?” The “vibe shift” Davis was referring to had nothing to do with crypto. She was referring to a sea change in pop culture and social trends, particularly in view of GenZ’s ongoing ascendance into trendsetting and cultural relevance. Nevertheless, her positioning caught my eye because she aptly put her finger on something crucial that I’ve also been feeling, particularly as it relates to crypto. The paradigm shift toward the next cultural moment — whatever it is — is perceptible, even if it’s not palpable. We can’t quite make it out, but we know it’s in the room. The concrete conditions haven’t shifted yet, but the vibe most certainly has. In the days followi...

Web3: Onboarding the next billion users — The road ahead

Recent geopolitical events have polarized the world. Partisanship and the ideological divide have further balkanized the internet, whose gatekeepers have trampled upon the rights of millions to access financial services. Nations are gradually waking up to the reality of having neutral protocols and national stacks.  Hailed as the next generation of the internet, Web3 will be sanction-resistant and free of data silos. Gavin Wood, co-founder of Ethereum and creator of Polkadot and Kusama, coined the term Web3 in 2004. Five years later, the Bitcoin (BTC) white paper was released in 2009, which further cemented the imperative of decentralization. Is the decentralization narrative here to stay? Let’s find out why Web3 is gaining ground today. Related: Decentralization vs. centralization: W...

White House office seeks public opinion on crypto-climate implications

The Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP), an Executive Office of the President of the United States, commenced a study to identify the scope for offsetting energy use and climate changes related to digital assets.  On March 9, United States President Joe Biden signed an executive order, directing various federal agencies to examine implications of digital assets on six key areas — consumer and investor protection, financial stability, financial inclusion, responsible innovation, the United States’ global financial leadership and combating illicit financial activity. As a part of the initiative, the OSTP invited the general public and other stakeholders to share their viewpoints on various factors that contribute to the energy use and climate impacts of all types of digital a...
