Austria declares three days of national mourning

The Austrian government declared three days of mourning following a terrorist attack that left four victims and a suspect dead. “Our thoughts and our compassion are with the victims, the injured and their families in these very difficult hours for the republic of Austria,” Chancellor Sebastian Kurz said before a cabinet meeting. The mourning will last until Thursday, the government decided. People have been killed and 15 seriously injured in multiple shootings in the Austrian capital on Monday evening, according to local police. Cancer Care: Consultant backs Nigerian government on palliative care, Chemosafe policies

Dr Isreal Kolawole, a Consultant Anesthetic and Palliative Care Clinician, on Tuesday commended the Federal Government’s review of the National Palliative Care and Chemosafe Policies. Kolawale, a consultant at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, told newsmen in Abuja, that the review would eliminate cancer patients’ challenges in Nigeria. Newsmen recall that the Federal Ministry of Health and stakeholders in the health sector reviewed the policies during the Cancer week, which held from Oct. 26 to Oct. 30. IBEDC implements revised service tariff

The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) says it has began implementation of the revised service-based reflective tariff as approved by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC). IBEDC Head, Branding and Corporate Communication, Ms Angela Olanrewaju said this in a statement in Ibadan on Tuesday. Travel agent in court for alleged N1.7 million visa fraud

File Photo A 35-year-old travel agent, Alao Ganiyu, on Monday appeared in a Chief Magistrates’ Court in Kaduna for allegedly defrauding a traveller of N1.7 million. The police charged Ganiyu with three counts of criminal breach of trust, cheating and forgery. The Prosecutor, Insp. Sunday Baba, told the court that the complainant, Lawal Salami, reported the matter on Oct. 25, through a petition to the Deputy Commissioner of Police State Criminal and Investigation Department. Baba alleged that sometime in 2019, the defendant promised to secure a visa to the Bahamas for the complainant . Gov. Nyesom Wike of Rivers says his administration will replace all the properties allegedly destroyed by members of the proscribed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) during the #EndSARS protest in parts of Rivers. EEDC implements new revised service reflective tariff in South East

The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC), on Monday, said it had begun implementation of the new revised Service Reflective Tariff (SRT) within the South-East. The review was based on the outcome of joint consultative meetings held between Federal Government, labour unions and stakeholders, following concerns expressed over the basis for the Service Reflective Tariff earlier planned to be implemented from Sept. 1, 2020. The Head, Corporate Communications, EEDC, Mr Emeka Ezeh, said in a statement in Enugu that the new revised tariff, which took effect on Nov. 1, was approved by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).
