Joan Baez to Receive 2020 Woody Guthrie Prize
Joan Baez is this year’s recipient of the Woody Guthrie Prize, in recognition of her “groundbreaking career and impact on humanitarian causes.” The legendary folk singer, activist and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer will be inducted Aug. 16 during a virtual edition of the Philadelphia Folk Festival. The prize was established in 2014 and is given each year to an artist who best exemplifies the spirit and life work of Woody Guthrie by speaking for the less fortunate and serving as a positive force for social change. Nigeria has received an $890 million grant from the Global Fund to reduce the burden of HIV, Tuberculosis and Malaria over an implementation period of three years, beginning from 2021 to 2023. Actionaid Nigeria has called on the federal government to declare state of emergency on rape, following the alarming cases of rape across the country. The Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) has issued new guidelines for courier and logistics services. In a statement on Tuesday, Frankin Alao, general manager, corporate communications, said Isa Pantami, minister of communications and digital economy, has approved the new guidelines. Adamawa Police Command arrested Obiora Patrick, a 39-year-old man who resides on No. 46 Hospital Road, Jimeta, Yola North Local Government Area of the state for raping a 9-year-old minor, his own stepdaughter. Hospital suspends operations after healthcare workers test positive for coronavirus

For the first time since Edison Research began documenting audio consumption with its Share of Ear study in 2014, digital and on-demand platforms owned over half of consumers’ time spent listening during the second quarter of 2020.
