California metallers ATREYU have released the official music video for their new song “Underrated”. The track is taken from the band’s upcoming album, “Baptize”, which is due on June 4 via Spinefarm Records. The clip arrives five months after the release of “Save Us”, which was the first taste of the band’s music since the departure of vocalist Alex Varkatzas in September. “Underrated” and “Save Us” showcase ATREYU‘s current lineup consisting of drummer Brandon Saller focusing completely on singing after previously sharing lead vocals with Varkatzas for most of the band’s two-decade-plus existence. Sitting behind the kit is Saller‘s HELL OR HIGHWATER bandmate Kyle Rosa, who had filled in for Saller on...

TESLA’s BRIAN WHEAT: How DEF LEPPARD’s JOE ELLIOTT Became ‘My Hero’

TESLA bassist Brian Wheat, who is promoting his recently released autobiography, “Son Of A Milkman: My Crazy Life With Tesla”, spoke to MetalAsylum.net about his friendship with DEF LEPPARD singer Joe Elliott. “The first guy [in DEF LEPPARD] I bonded with was [guitarist] Phil [Collen],” Brian said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET). “When we were in England, that first tour [with DEF LEPPARD], Joe wasn’t around; he was preoccupied or whatever. He said he wasn’t around. And he wasn’t — in fairness to him, they would come in later and stuff. But you would see him at soundcheck or whatever. And I just thought, ‘Maybe he doesn’t like us,’ or whatever. And then, when we got to Glens Falls, New York, and we were doing rehearsals...

COREY TAYLOR On His Upcoming Movie ‘Zombie Versus Ninja’: ‘I Don’t Wanna Make Oscar Winners. I Wanna Make Fun, Crazy Cult Classics’

Corey Taylor recently revealed that he has written five film scripts, including a script for a movie called “Zombie Versus Ninja”. Speaking to Frightmare HQ about his vision for “Zombie Versus Ninja”, the SLIPKNOT and STONE SOUR frontman said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “One of the things that I’ve always wanted to do is create a movie — write a movie and then see it from soup to nuts; from pre-pro to walking the red carpet. That’s been one of my biggest dreams. And I’ve had the opportunity to really be put in touch with some great producers. And I’m talking to potential directors right now, actually. It is going to shoot this year.” Asked if he has any interest in directing “Zombie Versus Ninja” himself, Cor...

Muse’s Matt Bellamy Gave Nandi Bushell a Guitar After Covering Them Twice

Nandi Bushell received one of Muse’s signature guitars from frontman Matt Bellamy as a thank you for her recent cover of “Plug In Baby.” Included with the guitar was a note from Bellamy reading: “Hi Nandi, love the new covers. Thought you might like to perform some on my signature model. Best wishes from Matt and the guitar team.” > Check out the video of her receiving the gift below. [embedded content] Of course, the Muse cover is just the most recent in Bushell’s string of successes, with each gaining popularity both with the original artists as well as fans. It’s also not the first gift the 10-year-old prodigy has received from an artist, or even the first guitar. Tom Morello previously gave her his signature “Soul Power” Stratocaster for her cover of Rage Against the Machine’s ...

Surveillance Footage Captures Altercation Between Quavo and Saweetie in Elevator

TMZ has obtained video of an altercation between Migos rapper Quavo and Saweetie. The incident took place in an elevator in Saweetie’s apartment building in 2020. In the surveillance footage, Quavo and Saweetie struggle over possession of an orange case. Saweetie appears to take a swing at Quavo, at which point he pushes her to the ground. Saweetie remains on the ground for several minutes — including when the elevator doors first open — before slowly picking herself up and limping out of view. At no point in the footage does Quavo offer Saweetie assistance. Quavo and Saweetie had been dating since 2018 but broke up earlier this month. In an Instagram post, Saweetie implied that Quavo had been unfaithful. Related You Deserve to Make Money Even When you are looking for Dates Online. So we r...

Power Trip Members and Obituary Honor Riley Gale with “Executioner’s Tax” Performance: Watch

Obituary have paid tribute to late Power Trip singer Riley Gale, who tragically passed away last summer. The death metal pioneers invited members of Power Trip onto a recent livestream for a cover of the latter’s staple song, “Executioner’s Tax (Swing of the Axe)”. Power Trip guitarists Blake Ibanez and Nick Stewart made a surprise guest appearance for the cover, which was dedicated to Gale. It’s likely the first public performance by members of Power Trip since Gale’s death. Obituary did the rollicking track justice, and the unmistakeable riffage of Ibanez and Stewart sounded nothing short of triumphant given all that’s happened. We previously reported on the first interview with the members of Power Trip since their August 25th statement confirming the death of their singer. While speaki...

Switchfoot Play Livestream Concert While Riding in a Hot-Air Balloon: Watch

During the coronavirus pandemic, Swiftfoot have been hosting a monthly livestream series called “The Fantastic Not Traveling Music Show”. It’s an inventive tour of sorts that’s seen them holing up on moving boats, gathering around late-night campfires, and dressing up for a Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou-themed stage while they treat fans to live renditions of their songs. For their latest edition, Switchfoot got extra creative and pulled off arguably one of the rarest type of livestream concerts out there: a gig performed while riding on a hot-air balloon. Over the weekend, Switchfoot managed to play an eight-song setlist while soaring over 3,500 feet in the air, despite being stuffed into what’s essentially a comically oversized wicker basket. Afterwards, they launched into a four-song e...

88rising & SiriusXM Launch Speaker Series to Dismantle Anti-Asian Racism

The Asian community in the U.S. has been targeted by a dramatic rise in hate crimes over the past year, not helped by the fact that former President Donald Trump often referred to COVID-19 as the “China virus.” The incidence of hate crimes against Asian-Americans rose by 149% in 2020 in 16 major cities compared with 2019, according to the Center for the Study of Hate and Extremism. On March 16, a shooting at three Atlanta massage parlors that has been suspected to be racially motivated left eight people dead, six of them Asian women. 88rising, which includes a record label and management company with signees like Joji and NIKI, initially faced backlash for its response to the shooting: posting a yellow square to its official Instagram, reminiscent of the ill-received black...
