Within two hours of the letter going live, songwriters including Warren — who sources say spearheaded the effort — Tranter, Golan, Victoria Monet, Tayla Parx, Joel Little and many others signed. Collectively, those songwriters have worked with artists including Dua Lipa, Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift and more. The Pact is a newly formed organization, which debuted over the weekend posting as @_the_pact on Instagram declaring it was “time to make some changes” for the betterment of songwriters. This effort arrives when songwriters — and their catalogs — are under a brighter spotlight than ever. Earlier this year, investment companies like Merck Mercuriadis‘ Hipgnosis are spending billions to acquire publishing catalogs (resulting i...
HipHopWired Featured Video Source: YouTube / Youtube Lil Nas X wanted to test just how tolerant and welcoming some of y’all really are when it comes to treating people equally. So, the 21-year-old, gay Black man celebrated his sexuality and put our boundaries to the test with his video for “Montero (Call Me By Your Name).” And some of you truly showed your whole entire ass by expressing your outrage on social media due to the imagery in the video. But more on that later. “What Montero Lamar Hill was showing you is that he isn’t afraid of the hell that some of you have already put him in for being gay.” And it wasn’t necessarily what was in the video but who was behind those “provocative” and “evil” images. To be Black is one thing that this country is still trying to accept. To be Black an...

Red Rocks Amphitheatre announced it will host events this summer at a reduced capacity of 2,500. With state approval, Red Rocks will soon reopen for its 80th anniversary summer season. Originally hosting up to 9,450 people, the venue’s reduced capacity represents around 25% of its normal volume. Representatives announced the news on Red Rocks’ official Twitter page, promising more announcements soon. Amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the iconic Colorado open air venue wasn’t immune to the widespread closures precipitated by the virus’ impact. While Red Rocks worked with state officials in September and October to host socially-distant, 175-capacity shows, the regulations weren’t economical for the venue to continue operations. Each county in Colorado falls into it...

In a press statement, Prydz’s team explained that they are unable to transport the giant sphere, citing the proximity of each festival. “Due to Tomorrowland announcing they are moving to the same weekend as Creamfields, it is now impossible for Eric’s team to transport and build the Holosphere in time to play both festivals,” the statement reads. “As Creamfields and Tomorrowland are both equally invested in Holosphere, a mutual decision to move the shows to 2022 has been reluctantly taken.” The news repre...

In keeping with a curse that’s nearly as powerful as the Bambino’s or Billy Goat’s, Aneesa Ferreira, who’s been competing on The Challenge since 2002’s Battle of the Sexes, was eliminated on the most recent episode of Double Agents. Though she’d sent home powerhouse Tori and racked up three daily wins en route to the end of Season 36, she was snuffed out at the last second by Big T in “Fire Escape,” a hog-tied race that didn’t play to her strengths. “Losing before the final has been my reality for the last however many seasons,” Aneesa lamented. “[But] this loss feels so different…this is the one where I kind of left it all out there.” And leave it out there, she did — when Aneesa said in the preceding Crater deliberation that she helped to pave the way for the game’s current crop of power...
