However, the rollout could potentially ostracize underserved communities that are treated at lower rates. According to New York Magazine, the program is only in the planning stages as officials in the Department of Health and Human Services coordinate between government agencies, businesses requiring vaccine passports, and companies that create the services.   The Centers for Disease Control and ...

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: MSCHF / MSCHF When Lil Nas X dropped his “controversial” visuals to “Call Me By Your Name (Montero)” we predicted that conservatives and “Christians” would be outraged and scream to the heavens over the video which featured LNX giving Satan a lap dance. Things really heated up for the once family friendly rapper teamed with MSCHF to drop 666 pairs of custom made Nike Air Max 97 “Satan Shoes” which featured a pentagram and actual human blood in the air bubbles. Needless to say Nike wasn’t amused with the promo and after days of religious fanatics railing against Lil Nas and his damned sneakers, Nike decided to sue MSCHF for remixing their classic silhouette into something that could be considered blasphemous. The UK’s Reading and Leeds festivals sold out quickly for their August 27-29 dates, but festival organizer Melvin Benn told the BBC that concertgoers will “almost certainly” need to prove that they have been vaccinated via a digital health “passport” before being admitted. A dedicated COVID medical director and team will be on-site for the festival, which features Queens of the Stone Age, Post Malone, Liam Gallagher and more. Reading and Leeds will also be bound by the same coronavirus safety protocols as bars and restaurants, Benn said. > However, there’s still a chance the three-day event will be canceled. “I’m taking the prime minister at his word that from June the legal restrictions will be off,” Benn said. “And as he and the culture secretary said: ‘We are looking f...

With a minimal amount of notes and direction, she is thrown onto the stage in front of an audience.  Screenshot from Apashe’s “Lord & Master” music video. Barcelona Concert Experiment With 5,000 People Tests Effectiveness of Social Distancing

Over the weekend, Barcelona’s Palau Sant Jordi venue hosted a 5,000 person concert, where social distancing was not enforced by design. The experiment sought to determine whether it is possible to stage large in-person gatherings in close quarters without contributing to the spread of COVID-19. The night was soundtracked by Spanish rock band Love of Lesbian. “It’s been a year and half since we last set foot on a scenario as a band,” the group’s singer Santi Balmes said, addressing the crowd. “Some of the musicians are crying over here.” Two attendees embrace at Barcelona’s Palau Sant Jordi, where an experimental concert took place to examine the effectiveness of social distancing. Blue Chips: YUNGMORPHEUS

Blue Chips is a monthly rap column that doubles as a scouting report. Each month, SPIN selects a rapper (or group of rappers) who could be Rookie of the Year candidates turned Hall-of-Famers or forgettable flashes in the pan. Only the passing seasons (and the number of streams) will tell. To read previous columns, click here. Academia is an insular world with a limited, often privileged audience. Economic and racial disparity is the norm, and institutional change is incremental at best. After four infuriating years at Boston College, YUNGMORPHEUS didn’t want to become one of many (and too few) Black academics stymied by systemic hurdles while questioning his reach. > “You may be saying some ill shit, but who are you talking to? There’s just a gang of schmucks in here like, ‘I’...
