Tenants Who Turned New York Apartment Into Illicit, Mask-Less Nightclub Sued by Landlord

The owners of the New York City apartment complex at 81 Hudson St. have filed a lawsuit against two tenants who allegedly turned their apartment into a nightclub. Occupants Kurt David and Jean Elbaum-David are being accused of regularly hosting disruptive, crowded parties and charging attendees a $100 cover. According to neighbors, the parties have been regular over the last few weeks, and it is not unheard of for the events to draw an attendance of over 100 people. The situation finally came to a head last weekend after one attendee, a 17-year-old boy, took a tumble down a flight of stairs in the building. Visibly intoxicated, he was taken to New York Presbyterian Downtown Hospital. Police raided the event, where they found dozens lined up trying to get inside. Kurt David w...

His contributions are immeasurable and include album design as well as stage production for their 2014 Grammys performance.  Cédric claims that the elegance and festive atmosphere led to their remodel being inspired by The Great Gatsby. “When we first discovered Cassio and the elegance of the place combined with the festive atmosphere, we immediately pictured The Great Gatsby,” he told Tatler. “We thought it could be interesting to create a bridge between the 1920s and today.” The cousin duo did a magnificent job communicating their vision, exp...

RIOT V vocalist Todd Michael Hall will release his first-ever solo album, “Sonic Healing”, on May 7 via Rat Pak Records. After being selected by judge Blake Shelton for his version of FOREIGNER‘s “Juke Box Hero”, Todd explored the idea of making a solo album. As the world shut down during the recent pandemic, Todd connected with METAL CHURCH guitarist Kurdt Vanderhoof to write the tracks that would become “Sonic Healing”. Vanderhoof also produced the album that is now available for pre-order. “Music has a healing effect to get you up and running,” Todd explains. “People use it to console themselves on a ...

SERJ TANKIAN Recalls Meeting Legendary ATLANTIC RECORDS Founder AHMET ERTEGUN

Serj Tankian, the Armenian-American vocalist from SYSTEM OF A DOWN, whose grandparents were survivors of the Armenian Genocide, recently spoke to RT‘s “Going Underground” about his meeting with Ahmet Ertegun, the legendary founder and CEO of Atlantic Records who was the son of a Turkish ambassador. Serj said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “I had a band that we had signed to my imprint, to my label, and there were a number of record companies interested in doing a distribution deal. So we met up with Universal Records, Atlantic Records at the time, and a few others in New York with the band. And after the meeting, I remember the CEO of Atlantic saying, ‘Hey, do you wanna meet the old man? He’s still here. His office is right next door.’ And I...

First Country: New Music from Carrie Underwood, Eric Church, Chris Young, Kane Brown and More

Eric Church, “Break It Kind of Guy” In the last sneak peek into his April project, Heart & Soul, Church declares he is the kind of guy who “tells my eagle when to fly,” as he warns of the destruction he can gleefully wreak, whether it comes to matters of property or of the heart. Church and his longtime background singer/ace-in-the-hole Joanna Cotten have a blast on this driving tune, where Church breaks out his falsetto. Don’t say he didn’t warn you. Chris Young & Kane Brown, “Famous Friends” Once you get past the distracting Google plug at the beginning, Young and Brown turn in an engaging rooftop performance celebrating their “famous friends,” who are big fish in their small towns — whether they are the local teacher, fire chief or football hero. The official clip adds in ...

First Spin: The Week’s Best New Dance Tracks From Jungle, Zhu, Elkka, Floating Points & More

Welcome (back) to the Jungle. The British duo returned earlier this week with the announcement of their third album, Loving in Stereo, heading our way this summer. In the meantime, they’ve shared its lead single, “Keep Moving.” Taking cues from second-LP songs like “Heavy California” and “Beat 54 (It’s All Good Now),” “Keep Moving” is a funky, feel-good disco-soul sermon with its almost gospel-choir-like chorus and stirring strings. While a year of lockdown has left many of us feeling down, the song serves as a divine source of encouragement to power through the sludge. One lyric in particular — “I could live with it, I could live with it, oh!” — repeats near the end, creating a glorious burst of catharsis and the record’s rawest moment, as if giving oneself permission to ackno...

Simply the Best

To be a Baptist gospel choir singer from Nutbush, Tennessee, and dream of being the first Black rock and roll performer to sell out football stadiums is a daunting desire to have, let alone achieve. However, Tina Turner did just that and HBO’s documentary TINA shares that story from desire to fulfillment.  Magnetized by her huge voice, swinging hair, and massive stage presence in a sequin mini dress, I loved Tina before I knew I loved rock and roll. It was as if I’d been born with the lyrics of “River Deep Mountain High” pre-programmed in my brain. I still remember wearing my mom’s jewelry and singing “do I love you, my oh my” into a hairbrush, mimicking Tina’s dance moves in the mirror. I was drawn to her before I knew her past, long before I found inspiration in the resilience she n...
