Peter Farrelly is following his Oscar-winning film, Green Book, with The Greatest Beer Run Ever. According to Deadline, Apple Studios is in negotiations to finance the movie, with Zac Efron and Russell Crowe in talks to star. Bill Murray is reportedly being tapped for a supporting role. Farrelly co-wrote the script with Brian Currie and Pete Jones, based on Chick Donohue and J.T. Malloy’s bestselling book, The Greatest Beer Run Ever: A Memoir of Friendship, Loyalty and War. Beer Run tells Donohue’s story of leaving New York in 1967 to bring beer to his childhood buddies in the Army while they were fighting in Vietnam. Donohue went through tremendous lengths to accomplish his goal, as he hitched a ride on a Merchant Marine ship and then carried the beer through the jungle while trying ...
After more than a year’s delay due to the pandemic, Marvel has finally decided to release Black Widow day-and-date on Disney+ and in theaters on July 9th. The movie will be available as a Premier Access stream, which means Disney+ users will have to pay an additional fee to watch. What’s more, Emma Stone’s live-action 101 Dalmatians prequel Cruella will follow the same distribution plan, coming to Premier Access Disney+ and cinemas on May 28th. Meanwhile, Pixar’s Luca will take the release path laid out by the Oscar-nominated Soul, going directly to streaming at no extra cost to subscribers on June 19th. Disney’s decision to make Black Widow and Cruella available as Premier Access movies comes after what a press statement calls “the successful release” of Raya and The Last Dragon...
By Rob LeDonne Trigger warning: This interview discusses sexual assault and drug addiction. When Demi Lovato approached director Michael D. Ratner about a docuseries on her life, the singer was clear: The goal was to be as honest as possible. The result is Demi Lovato: Dancing with the Devil, a warts-and-all four-part look at the tumultuous, complicated personal life of the actress and pop superstar. Going beyond the clickbait headlines and preconceived notions about Lovato’s troubles, Dancing with the Devil paints an honest, human portrait of the heart-wrenching reality of addiction and covers in excruciating detail the death of her father, her near-fatal 2018 overdose, and instances of sexual assault and rape. It’s an unflinching look at family and friendship, love and heartbreak, setbac...
EVANESCENCE‘s Amy Lee told Consequence Of Sound that teenage superstar Billie Eilish inspired her during the writing process for the band’s upcoming album, “The Bitter Truth”. She said: “I listen to all kinds of music. If I’m being completely honest, I don’t listen to rock, mostly. It’s not that I don’t like it. Of course I do. I really love the new BRING ME THE HORIZON album a lot. That’s my favorite new rock album in a good while. But my tastes are all over the place. I really do love good pop — like good, dark pop. So, with Billie Eilish, even more than her style, which is very dark, what I really love about her is just her authenticity. She’s just being completely herself. I see a lot of things in her that remind me of m...
BODY COUNT has never shied away from keeping it raw and real. In that spirit, Ice-T and crew launched a contest for fans to illuminate the musical and lyrical ballistics to their song “The Hate Is Real”, taken from the band’s latest album, “Carnivore”. Fans were asked to create and submit their own videos so the band could pick the best as the visual accompaniment to BODY COUNT‘s bloody, multi-tiered take on personal and systemic hate. Now the choice has been made and you can watch the winning video for “The Hate Is Real”, created by 25-year-old Brooklyn, New York-based filmmaker Seby Martinez below. Ice-T told Metal Hammer about “The Hate Is Real”: “One day, I heard Jim Jones from [American hip-hop group] DIPSET say, ‘...
In a new interview with Full Metal Jackie‘s nationally syndicated radio show, HATEBREED frontman Jamey Jasta was asked how he plans to incorporate various aspects of his coronavirus pandemic routine once it’s safe to go back on the road. He responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “I’m not sure just yet, because I really feel like my life had to change so drastically to acclimate to not being in a different city every day and not waking up on a tour bus that just the thought of getting on a tour bus sort of fills me with all this doubt and all this uncertainty, which is very bizarre. It’s like I’m almost gonna have to restart my life in a fresh new way and retrain my brain, because now I’m so ingrained in this — I don’t wanna call it a...

Last night, a friend alerted me to a filmed concert on the Isle of Wight in 1970 where Joni Mitchell performed. She said it was on YouTube. It was one of those post-Woodstock ridiculous assemblies of thousands of people who seem to be walking around, talking, getting high, eating, and every once in a while, listening to the music. Onto the stage walks Joni Mitchell and sadly tries to sing her quiet little song “A Song About the Midway” from her second album, Clouds, to this sea of people in an advanced state of distraction, and suddenly my weeks of working on this piece about her seems overblown and out of proportion. Maybe I am not, in all of this, writing about Joni Mitchell? Maybe I am writing about me and my reactions to things as I change and they change; the times, and me. I don’t th...
