Alexa Nikolas, the actress and former wife of Rhye frontman Michael Milosh, has accused him of grooming her beginning when she was 16, and of additional physical and sexual abuse. Nikolas posted her story on Instagram in an “open letter” on Monday titled “Groomed By The Groom.” In the lengthy IG posts, Milosh’s ex-wife called him an ephebophile — a person primarily attracted to late- or post-adolescents, generally teenagers between 15 and 19. <!– // Brid Player Singles. var _bp = _bp||[]; _bp.push({ “div”: “Brid_10143537”, “obj”: {“id”:”25115″,”width”:”480″,”height”:”270″,”playlist”:”10315″,”inviewBottomOffset”:”105px”...
Michelle Zauner, aka Japanese Breakfast, served as the musical guest on Monday night’s episode of Jimmy Fallon, where she performed her latest single, “Be Sweet”. Additionally, in a nod to her debut appearance on The Tonight Show, Zauner dusted off “Jimmy Fallon Big!”, from 2017’s Soft Sounds from Another Planet, as a web exclusive. Zauner and her band filmed their mini-set at Brooklyn’s National Sawdust. With the exception of a female patron at the bar and an extraterrestrial bartender, the venue was completely empty. As such, the only way to view both performances is by clicking the play button on the videos embedded below. “Be Sweet” is the lead single from Zauner’s upcoming album, Jubilee, out June 4th via Dead Oceans. The record follows 2016’s Psychopomp and 2017’s...

The first time I put Laura Nyro’s album, Eli and the Thirteenth Confession on a plastic grey turntable of the cheap record player (a toy with a plug), it wasn’t enough time to hear everything the music was doing. I had to play the record every day for a week or more to learn how to listen to it. Nyro’s songs, other than the ones that became hits for other people, are richly unclassifiable–meshing pop, gospel and even 20th century music influences and all delivered by a singing voice that has an otherworldly three-octave range and seems to unfold with the urgency of someone confessing. As a burgeoning singer-songwriter myself who was also drawn to the autobiographical, I wanted her music to seep into my DNA. Eli and the Thirteenth Confession was released in 1968, the year before ...
It’s no surprise Billy Joel flipped for singer-songwriter AJ Smith’s pop-ballad homage—“Billy Joel.” It’s beautiful, heartfelt, and intoxicating. In high school, Smith served as a young associate violinist to the National Symphony Orchestra, while simultaneously serving as an engineer and infrared systems developer for the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory. After choosing the path of music instead of engineering, and honing his craft at NYU, Smith now plays 10 instruments and is currently creating pop hits you won’t able to avoid. No matter what the song, no matter what the mood—the tone, the timbre—there’s something eternally optimistic about AJ’s music. Take his single “Roommate”, for instance, a brilliant showcase of his genuinely star-powered, butter-voiced talent and charisma. ...
Welcome to Blast Rites, SPIN’s monthly metal column! In this edition, we’ll celebrate the return of one of experimental metal’s most celebrated bands, queer doom from Boston, London’s noisy metalcore sensation, and two new rippers from the Bay Area. Genghis Tron — Dream Weapon (Relapse) A lot was taken from us in the past year, yet renowned electronic-experimental metal group Genghis Tron got back together. Consider it a wash. With everything as fucked up as it now and Sumac drumming phenom Nick Yacyshyn joining the band, Dream Weapon should sound like layers upon layers of uncontrolled demolitions, right? Weapon is their least metallic, least chaotic, most synth-forward, most uncompromising record. Aggression hasn’t totally seeped out in hibernation — “Pyrocene” mixes rumbling synth bass ...
Here’s a brand-new music video from Lawrence and De Covenant – Testify. Energetic gospel praise singer, Lawrence and De Covenant returns with another hot tune dubbed “Testify”. As usual, the praise machine and his vibrant team rolled up their sleeves and set to work on this particular track. It’s an Afrocentric song that’s set the tone for a praise-filled atmosphere. Testify is a thanksgiving song that highlights the goodness of God in our lives from season to season. Lawrence and his team are living testaments of the faithfulness of God as well as his goodness to the children of men. They show it with all the zest they can summon in this beautiful piece. The song was ably produced by Ini D Minstrel, while the video was directed by Oluyinka Davids. Watch and enjoy Lawrence and De Covenant ...
