LZZY HALE: HALESTORM’s New Album Will Be ‘A Musical Documentary Of What We’ve Gone Through’ During Pandemic

HALESTORM frontwoman Lzzy Hale spoke to Matt Pinfield of KLOS‘s “New & Approved” series about the songwriting sessions for the band’s follow-up to 2018’s “Vicious” album. She said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “It’s been a roller-coaster ride, because we were writing for the record and actually getting together right here in my home studio every single day before the [coronavirus-related] lockdown happened, which I think tomorrow marks a year to the day when all that craziness started. So we were getting together and we were writing songs, and then, slowly but surely, it just felt like every single day we were getting more bad news, and we just basically made a decision, like, ‘Okay, guys, until this blows over ‘...

Wolfgang Van Halen Declined Invitation to Perform ‘Eruption’ at Grammys

One of the biggest surprises of the Grammys’ new “In Memoriam” segment was that Eddie Van Halen seemed to be ignored as compared to other legends who died in 2020. Though not completely slighted — a guitar sat alone while 20 seconds of “Eruption” played with archival footage of Van Halen was shown in the background. In a tweet on Monday afternoon, Wolfgang Van Halen revealed that the Grammys had bigger plans — including having him perform his father’s legendary 90-second thunderbolt “Eruption.” <!– // Brid Player Singles. var _bp = _bp||[]; _bp.push({ “div”: “Brid_10143537”, “obj”: {“id”:”25115″,”width”:”480″,”height”:”270″,”playlist”:”10315″,”i...

2021 Grammy Awards Ratings Plummet to Less than Half of 2020’s Viewers

Music’s Biggest Night put on one hell of a concert, but unfortunately not a lot of people watched it go down. According to Nielsen figures, the 2021 Grammy Awards ratings experienced a huge drop in viewership this year, with only 7.89 million viewers tuning in to watch the show. That’s less than half (!) of the number of people who watched the Grammys in 2020. Out of that nearly eight million estimate, the 2021 Grammy Awards only drew a 1.9 rating among adults aged 18 to 49 years old — their key demographic and the audience that they court the hardest each year. By comparison, the 2020 awards averaged about 16.54 million viewers and a 4.8 in that same age group. And to think, that was before adjusting the ratings to their official (but still paltry) 18.69 million viewers and 5.4 rating amo...

Elton John Condemns ‘Hypocrisy’ of the Vatican After Same-Sex Union Ruling

John, a fervent advocate for and member of the LGBTQ+ community, condemned the Vatican’s statement as “hypocrisy,” considering their financial investment in his 2019 biopic Rocketman, which depicts him coming out as a gay man and entering into a sexual relationship with his manager John Reid before eventually celebrating his marriage to husband David Furnish at the end of the movie. The couple, who’ve been together for 15 years, were married on Dec. 21, 2014, at their Windsor estate nine months after same-sex marriage became legal in England. “How can the Vatican refuse to bless gay marriages because they ‘are sin’, yet happily make a profit from investing millions in ‘Rocketman’ – a film which celebrates my finding happ...

Nandi Bushell Continues Hot Streak With Cover of Muse’s ‘Plug In Baby’

For the better part of the last two decades, Muse has most likely been your favorite band’s favorite band. And for most of the last year, Nandi Bushell has most likely been your favorite band’s favorite child prodigy of rock music. On Sunday, the English youngster released her take on “Plug In Baby.” She described it as “one of my most CHALLENGING covers so far,” yet still managed to flawlessly work through all four parts of the song. The original version of the track also recently celebrated its 20th anniversary since releasing as the first single from the band’s breakthrough sophomore album, Origin of Symmetry. <!– // Brid Player Singles. var _bp = _bp||[]; _bp.push({ “div”: “Brid_10143537”, “obj”: {“id”:”25115″,&#...

Brandi Carlile Shares Cover of John Prine’s ‘I Remember Everything’

One of the more memorable moments of the Grammys was the reconfigured “In Memorium” segment. In it, select artists paid tribute to those who died in 2020 with performances of their songs. One of the best was when Brandi Carlile performed a tender version of John Prine’s final song, “I Remember Everything,” which won two Grammys in its own right. Prine’s song was recorded by producer Dave Cobb and engineer Gena Johnson, and it was bittersweetly Prine’s only No. 1 song. A day later, Carlile has released a studio version of “I Remember Everything.” <!– // Brid Player Singles. var _bp = _bp||[]; _bp.push({ “div”: “Brid_10143537”, “obj”: {“id”:”25115″,”width”:”480″,”height”:”270″...
