Before he arranged music for The Beatles, legendary record producer George Martin experimented in electronic music. Now, two of his unearthed songs, which he has said greatly influenced his pioneering work with the Fab Four, are receiving a reissue. Back in April 1962, just two weeks before Martin met the Beatles, the late musician and audio engineer collaborated with the BBC Radiophonic Workshop’s Maddalena Fagandini to produce two electronic tracks, “Time Beat” and “Waltz in Orbit.” Both songs were released under the duo’s nom de plume, Ray Cathode. Those two songs have now been remastered and will be reissued on a rare collectible 12″ vinyl in a limited run of 100 copies. The release will also feature remixes of both tracks b...

RATING: 8/10 One of the few good things about 2020 was the sheer volume of top-notch thrash metal that came out, and 2021 is starting with a similar vibe. ENFORCED have been tipped as the genre’s latest, brightest hopes for a while now, partly due to the utterly face-ripping brilliance of 2019’s “At The Walls” debut, and this year’s release is equally face-ripping but arguably heavier and sharper on all fronts. “Kill Grid” is one instant, irrefutable reason to be cheerful. This Richmond, Virginia crew simply have that irresistible intensity that exemplifies the best thrash and speed metal: a powerful sense that their songs might actually find a way to punch you in the face if you don’t headbang throughout. Their gnarly, churning sound is as d...
SLIPKNOT frontman Corey Taylor has confirmed to Matt Pinfield of 95.5 KLOS‘s “New & Approved” series that he and his bandmates have commenced work on the follow-up to 2019’s “We Are Not Your Kind” album. He said (see video below): “We’ve compiled a lot of material. Me and Clown [percussionist Shawn Crahan] have talked about something really, really cool, if we can pull it off. There’s a chance that it could be conceptual — if we can really do it right. I mean, the music is brilliant. It expands on what we did with ‘We Are Not Your Kind’ — it kind of blossoms from there — but the great thing is, it’s got not only that, but it’s got everything that you would want from a SLIPKNOT project; there’s the heavy...
Former FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH drummer Jeremy Spencer spoke to “Drag The Waters: The Pantera Podcast” about his decision to remove all the previously released music and videos from his PSYCHOSEXUAL project ahead of the arrival of its new single, “Devil From Hell”, at the end of the month. “When you make records, they’re like snapshots in time,” Jeremy explained (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET). “We made the first thing pretty fast, and I just threw it out independently. And we had started the next record right away, and ‘Devil From Hell’ happened. And I’m, like, ‘Fuck, man. I really like this. I wish this would have been the first thing that we dropped.’ So it’s, like, you know what? Nobody even really ...
When Ingrid Andress found out she was nominated for three Grammys including Best New Artist, it was the opposite of glamour: She was tending to her plants at her Nashville home. With no live shows and a lot of time in isolation, her life as a new artist hitting her stride has been, well, lackluster. But the singer has made it work. Last March, Andress released Lady Like, a confessional, country-pop record that underscores Andress’ unwavering vulnerability and evocative storytelling. From musing about broken hearts to family and unexpected encounters at bars, Andress treats her music like therapy, processing her most complex emotions as a means to learn and heal. <!– // Brid Player Singles. var _bp = _bp||[]; _bp.push({ “div”: “Brid_10143537”, “objR...
