Dimension’s Stunning 17-Track Debut Album “Organ” Has Finally Arrived

UK drum & bass sensation Dimension has been dominating the genre for years now. With wildly popular releases like “Desire” with Sub Focus, “UK,” and “Don’t Sleep” with Culture Shock, Dimension has become one of the foremost producers and performers in drum & bass. Now, his long-anticipated debut album, Organ, has finally been released. Organ features a whopping 17 tracks, nine of which have been previously released as singles. Previously unheard tracks include “Psycho,” a hip-hop infused belter with a halftime drum beat and a West-coast whistle inspired synth line. “Domino” takes a more midtempo approach with a gritty, nearly industrial bassline and crooning vocals. The eerie “Altar” featur...

Jasmine Harrison, Youngest Woman to Row Solo Across Any Ocean, on How Music Powered Her Boat

Jasmine Harrison is not a musician. She has never picked up a microphone or downloaded music production software. She’s only danced to one song in her entire life, albeit an embarrassing one. But after making history as the youngest woman to row solo across any ocean, she is living proof that music can propel anyone to do extraordinary things. Accompanied by nothing but a playlist and the mesmeric, repetitive splosh of her oar slicing the ocean’s surface, Harrison, 21, traversed the Atlantic Ocean in 70 days, 3 hours and 48 minutes. However, with a bubbly naiveté rarely found in a barnstorming, record-breaking heroine, you wouldn’t know it when speaking to her. And after the enormity of her accomplishment finally sunk in, even she can’t believe it was her....

Why International Women’s Day Is Important to Me: Aluna, TOKiMONSTA, More Speak Out

Since 1975, International Women’s Day has been designated as a global day of recognition for women, taking place annually on March 8th. It also coincides with the American Women’s History Month. But historically, the event dates back to the early 1900s, linked to early feminist and workers’ rights movements. From protest movements to a celebration of women’s suffrage, the date has become a focal point and rallying cry for gender equity worldwide.  It’s no secret that we’ve still got a long way to go in ensuring equal opportunities, pay and platforms for women, along with non-binary individuals. This is especially true in the electronic music industry—a 2020 study from the USC Annenberg Inclusion Initiative found only 21.7% of artists in th...

BLACK SABBATH: Previously Unreleased RONNIE JAMES DIO-Era Song Surfaces Online

A rehearsal recording of BLACK SABBATH playing a previously unreleased song apparently called “Slapback” in 1979 during the pre-production sessions for the band’s “Heaven And Hell” album can be streamed below. The track, which features Ronnie James Dio on vocals, Tony Iommi on guitar and Bill Ward on drums, was uploaded to YouTube by Gary Rees, the stepson and executor of the estate of SABBATH‘s longtime keyboardist Geoff Nicholls. The “Slapback” upload comes a month and a half after Rees shared a previously unreleased rehearsal recording of BLACK SABBATH playing the “Heaven And Hell” title track during the same sessions. That recording featured Nicholls on bass due to Geezer Butler‘s absence during the initial writing stage...

Will SLAYER Ever Reunite For A Show Or Tour? GARY HOLT Responds

Gary Holt says that he doesn’t know if there will ever be a SLAYER reunion. The EXODUS leader, who spent almost nine years touring with SLAYER, discussed the possibility of a SLAYER comeback while taking part in this weekend’s Headbangers Con. Asked by Rocking With Jam Man if SLAYER would consider returning for a special show or tour, Holt said (transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “That’s a question I couldn’t answer you, whether SLAYER would ever get back together. Those are questions that are above my pay scale, I guess you’d say. “Look, if the powers that be ever — like, in a year or something — said, ‘Hey, you know what? We feel like playing some shows,’ I’m there to do it,” Holt added. “But those aren’t decisi...

For Those That Wish To Exist also rules this week’s ARIA Vinyl Albums Chart and it’s the best seller in the U.K. Coming in at No. 2 on the ARIA Albums Chart is Sheppard’s third album Kaleidoscope Eyes. Rounding out an all-new Top Three this week is Alice Cooper’s Detroit Stories. Michael Gudinski’s State Memorial Set For Rod Laver Arena

The 15,000-capacity first opened its doors for a concert back in 1988, when AC/DC rocked the house. In the years since, Gudinski’s Mushroom Group and Frontier Touring have brought some of the world’s biggest artists to Melbourne & Olympic Parks, including Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, Taylor Swift, and Ed Sheeran. Gudinski passed away last Monday (March 1), at the age of 68. As news spread, Rod Laver Arena and the neighboring AAMI Park were lit up as a mark of respect. Last Wednesday, Victoria’s Premier Daniel Andrews confirmed the music man would be remembered “somewhere iconic that we can come together and celebrate his life.” He continued, “It will be a celebration of his life; the details will be finalized in coming days. It’s got to be COVID-safe of co...

Drake’s ‘What’s Next’ In Striking Distance of U.K. No. 1

Just 800 chart sales separate “Wellerman,” the leader on the First Look chart, and Olivia Rodrigo’s third-placed song “Drivers License,” the OCC reports. Last Friday, “Drivers License” logged its eighth successive week at No. 1 with another strong set of streaming results. A lead change isn’t out of the question. All three tracks from Drake’s Scary Hours 2 EP are poised to impact the Top 10, with “Lemon Pepper Freestyle” at No. 4 and “Wants and Needs” at No. 5. If the Canadian hip-hop star holds his momentum, he’ll have his 24th, 25th and 26th Top 10 singles in the U.K. when the chart is published this Friday. Also new to the chart blast is “Leave The Door Open” by Silk Sonic, the new project from Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak. It’s at No. 16. Mars already has 18th Top 20 singles, wh...

Mural of Trans Icon SOPHIE Installed in Sydney Ahead of LGBTQ+ Mardi Gras

This week in Sydney, LGBTQ+ community advocates and musical duo Stereogamus paid homage to the late SOPHIE with their commission of a giant mural in her likeness. Placed next to a painting of queer icon George Michael, the murlal’s reveal came just ahead of the city’s LGBTIQA Mardi Gras celebration on March 6th.  The work was created by local artist Scott Marsh, who painted the Michael tribute just last year. Featuring an angel halo and the lyrics, “It’s okay to cry,” the mural memorializes SOPHIE at her finest. A leading trans woman in the electronic dance music industry, SOPHIE tragically died following an accidental fall in Athens on January 30th, 2021. “Losing her has been a painful experience for our community,” Stereogamus said...

The Final Installment of Richie Hawtin’s Prada Runway Music Has Arrived

High fashion houses have been calling on dance music producers to spin at their runway shows for years, such as Daft Punk for Louis Vuitton and Justice for Dior Homme. Minimalist techno pioneer Richie Hawtin is no stranger to this trend, first crafting lengthy mixes for Calvin Klein in 2017. He has now released “Inxtro,” the last installment of four tracks specially composed for Prada‘s 2021 shows. The mixes, released under Hawtin’s Plastikman alias, were commissioned by co-creative directors Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons, the latter of whom tapped Hawtin while he was still with Calvin Klein. “Inxtro” was created for the Fall / Winter 2021 Womenswear collection. The show debuted at Milan Fashion Week on February 25th, 2021. “[It] evolves t...
