Tyler Young Debuts With Vibrant Single, “My Time”

Los Angeles-based house music producer and DJ Tyler Young has made an emphatic debut with a new single titled “My Time.” For his first release, Young has delivered a vibrant track with a funk-filled bassline, plucky melodic strings, and shimmering synths. “My Time” is also layered over hair-raising vocals courtesy of an impressive Haley May.  With the release of “My Time,” Tyler shines, providing a taste of what’s to come in what looks like a bright future. In 2006, Young was inspired to produce music after witnessing Daft Punk‘s spaceship touch down in the Coachella Valley. Fast-forward nearly 15 years, and Young is releasing a high-energy dance track of his own.  Albeit his first record release, Young has been DJing...

EXTREME’s New Album Has Been ‘Done For A Year’

During an appearance on Kylie Olsson‘s YouTube show “Life In Six Strings”, EXTREME guitarist Nuno Bettencourt confirmed that the band’s first new album since 2008’s “Saudades De Rock” has been “done for a year now.” He explained: “We were gonna release it last March, and the fucking pandemic came along. We debated and debated, and fans are still busting my balls every fucking day [on social media], ‘Where is that album?’ And it’s hard to explain that it’s, like, we can easily put it out — easily. Just, ‘There it is. It’s on iTunes. Go get it.’, Or, ‘It’s on Spotify. Go get it.’ But we’re a touring band. And it might be a little old-school thinking — we wanna come an...

MAX CAVALERA Looks Back On Breakup Of SEPULTURA’s Classic Lineup: It Was ‘Rotten From The Inside’

Max Cavalera has reflected on the breakup of SEPULTURA‘s classic lineup, saying that the situation in the band was “rotten from the inside.” The Brazilian four-piece fell apart in 1996 with the exit of Max after the rest of the band split with his wife Gloria as their manager. His brother, drummer Igor Cavalera, stuck around with the group for another ten years before leaving SEPULTURA and re-teaming with Max in CAVALERA CONSPIRACY. Although SEPULTURA has maintained a diehard fanbase in all parts of the world throughout the band’s nearly four-decade history, Max-era albums “Roots” and “Chaos A.D.” were by far SEPULTURA‘s most commercially successful, having both been certified gold in the U.S. for sales in excess of five hundred thousan...

The follow-up to 2012’s “Days Go By” was produced by Bob Rock, who also worked on the band’s last two LPs. On the topic of the long delay in getting the new album released, Noodles said: “I’ve been saying this record is gonna come out since 1985. So I figured I’m finally right. This year is the year, finally… And we did take our time doing this, for a couple of reasons. We always go out and tour, and it’s hard to record whi...

20 Questions With Nicole Moudaber: The Techno Legend on the Causes Most Important To Her

1. Where are you in the world right now, and what’s the setting like? I’m currently in Bali, and the setting is magical. I wish that I could show you where I’m at right now – I’m in the middle of the rice fields surrounded by green and an amazing tropical pool. There’s a mini Komodo dragon roaming around the garden that I say hi to every morning when I’m having my coffee. 2. What is the first album or piece of music you bought for yourself, and what was the medium? Well, I think it was Teacher Don’t Teach Me Nonsense by Fela Kuti. I was in Nigeria – where I was born, in Ibadan – listening to Afrobeat, lots of rhythmic music. Fela Kuti is a legend and a God in West Africa. That’s all we used to listen to; a lot of funk and soul. Fela Kuti made an impression on me because he was very p...

The Grammy-winning rapper exclusively revealed she’s releasing her own doll on the TODAY Show. Cardi opened up about how she wanted to design a doll that not only looks like her but also represents a diverse array of girls, including her 2-year-old daughter Kulture, because she didn’t have that luxury growing up. “I have a 2-year-old, right? And I buy dolls every time I go to Target, and they expensive. So somebody came with this idea to me and I’m like, ‘That is great, because I would love my daughter to play with a doll that looks like me,'” Cardi said during the interview. “Growing up, I ain’t ever seen a doll that look like me. I ain’t ever seen a doll that really represents me. When you go to the doll aisle when you was my age, it&#...

First Out: New Music From Girl in Red, St. Vincent, Siena Liggins & More

Girl in Red, “Serotonin” Put a fast-rising talent like Girl in Red in the studio with one of the hottest producers of the moment, Finneas, and you get a song like “Serotonin.” Marie Ulven, the titular Girl who wears a lot of Red, has never sounded quite as good as she does on this upbeat, blown-out, bass-thumping anthem about clinical depression — yes, you read that correctly. Finneas adds his knack for off-the-wall production choices, including a dreamy, bedroom-pop guitar buildup that exists only to be thrown away for a chorus featuring floor-shaking beats and speaker-melting bass. Ulven’s incisive songwriting adds the final cherry on top, as she viscerally describes her dark thoughts, before concluding “From the corners of my mind/ I’m terrified...
