It’s been an interesting few weeks for Lil Uzi Vert. After becoming having a $24,000,000 dollar pink infinity stone inserted into his dome piece and becoming the rap game’s first Avenger, the man went and got wifed up with City Girl’s TJ. Whether or not he takes that stone off his head and puts it on a ring for TJ remains to be seen but for now Vert is flaunting it every second he can, and for his clip to “Movie” walks around the city of brotherly love Vision’d out as if goons ain’t scheming like Thanos. G Perico meanwhile wants everyone to know he keeps things a buck in his visuals to “Never Made A Statement” where he reassures the streets that he ain’t never drop a dime or give prosecutors anything to work with. Tekashi might take this song personal. Just sayin.’ Check out the rest of to...
After years of platform reformation and corporate restructuring, audio distribution platform SoundCloud has announced a new fan-powered royalty model, which the company touts as a “game-changing” innovation to empower independent artists. The new model is predicated on fan bases, whose streaming activity will drive and dictate payout rates to the artists they listen to. With the ambitious move, SoundCloud will distribute a portion of its users’ subscription payments and accrued advertising revenue to the musicians they listen to on the platform, with the objective of supporting independent artists with loyal fans. The model could serve as a harbinger for the future of music streaming. “SoundCloud is uniquely positioned to offer this transformativ...

When we dropped our “Best Songs of 2020“ list, there was no question that The Midnight would be included. In fact, their year was so impressive that they landed on the synthwave category twice, for both “Deep Blue” and “Night Skies,” taken from their celebrated album Monsters. The LA-based duo plans to continue this success straight into 2021 with the announcement of their next EP, Horror Show. Fans first got a glimpse of the record this past October when they did a special Halloween release exclusively through Amazon Music. Horror Show will soon be available across all platforms on March 19th. To prepare for the impending release, The Midnight has dropped their first single of the year, “Neon Medusa.” The track fea...
SCORPIONS‘ Mikkey Dee has just returned to Peppermint Park Studios in Hannover, Germany to resume recording the band’s upcoming studio album. Tentatively due in 2021, the disc will mark the German-Polish-Swedish hard rock legends’ first release since 2017’s “Born To Touch Your Feelings – Best Of Rock Ballads”, which was an anthology of SCORPIONS‘ new and classic material. Earlier today, Dee shared a Twitter video message recorded in his Hannover hotel room, where he is quarantining for a week before rejoining his bandmates in the studio. The Swedish drummer said in the clip (see below): “We are gonna finish up the album, and we are working really hard on that. And it’s coming together; we’re almost done. So, I’ve got o...
In a new interview with “The Rhino Podcast”, Tony Iommi reflected on his time recording and touring with Ronnie James Dio as his bandmate in both BLACK SABBATH and HEAVEN & HELL. The guitarist said (hear audio below): “It was really amazing. And it was going so good — the last [HEAVEN & HELL] album we did with Ronnie. We talked about doing another album. We were really focused, all of us, then. With any kind of egos or anything anybody had, it had all gone, and we could work together. And it was great fun — we had a great time doing that album, and we had a great time doing the tour. And we never put pressure on each other as far as, ‘We’ve gotta do another album; we’ve gotta do this.’ It was, ‘If we wanna do it, we’ll do it....
Alice Cooper has dismissed the notion that rock is dead, saying that “rock and roll is where it should be right now.” While rock and roll has been king of the music world for decades, in the past few years, it’s been unseated by the growing popularity of hip-hop. This has caused many pundits to proclaim the genre “dead” from an industry perspective, noting that it has been eclipsed in all measures by pop, hip-hop, and EDM. A few years ago, KISS bassist/vocalist Simmons told Esquire magazine that “rock did not die of old age. It was murdered. Some brilliance, somewhere, was going to be expressed and now it won’t because it’s that much harder to earn a living playing and writing songs. No one will pay you to do it.” A number of hard rock ...
METALLICA celebrated the 35th anniversary of its classic third album, “Master Of Puppets”, by performing the song “Battery” on last night’s (Wednesday, March 3) episode of “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert”. This is not the first time that METALLICA has appeared on a talk show hosted by Stephen Colbert. In May 2017, METALLICA performed the song “Now That We’re Dead” on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert”. Prior to that, the band sat down for an interview and performed on Comedy Central‘s “The Colbert Report” in September 2013. More recently, METALLICA performed “Enter Sandman” on “A Late Show: Super Bowl Edition”, a live special edition of “The Late Show With Stephen C...
The Simpsons has been renewed for two more seasons. Fox will continue to air new episodes of the iconic cartoon at least through its 34th season in 2023. As The Hollywood Reporter points out, renewing the longest-running scripted primetime show in TV history might seem like an obvious move, but the process has actually gotten a bit more complicated in recent years. After Disney purchased Fox’s assets for $72 billion back in March 2019, the parent company has a lot more say in where Homer, Marge and the gang end up in the vast multiverse of cable and streaming. For instance, after this next renewal period ends in two years, Disney could choose to move The Simpsons to a new network, which would give them the opportunity to negotiate a new deal to the tune of $1 billi...
Over the past 24 hours, several states have reduced the restrictions in place to curb the spread of COVID-19. On Tuesday, both Texas Governor Greg Abbott and Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves abruptly decided to lift all capacity restrictions on businesses and end their states’ mask mandates starting next week. Then today, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that plays, concerts, and other performances can resume indoors at limited capacity beginning next month. Just because music venues are allowed to reopen, however, doesn’t mean they’re all jumping at the opportunity to do so. The intensity and longevity of the coronavirus pandemic has been a major burden, if not an outright death bell, for independent music venues over the past year. Despite Congress allocating $15 billion for thea...
Adam Levine, the lead singer in Maroon 5 and the man whose tummy tattoo was mocked around the world, believes “there aren’t any bands anymore”. As Stereogum points out, Levine lamented the alleged disappearance of music groups during an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music, saying, “There’s no bands anymore, and I feel like they’re a dying breed.” Levine stopped by Lowe’s show to promote “Beautiful Mistakes”, his new song with Megan Thee Stallion. The two started talking about modern pop music and the extent to which solo artists are currently dominating that world. That’s when Levine got nostalgic for the music of the early 2000s and seemed to forget there’s dozens of phenomenal bands from the past decade crushing it right now. “You look back at that stuff and, it’s funny, I’ve been sh...
