Since kicking off its “VIP Crates” series in early January 2021, Beatsource, a digital music platform designed for open-format DJs, has become a trusted source of playlists. Their latest comes from dance music veteran Deorro, who curated a diverse and radiant selection of tracks at the intersection and electronic and Latin music. On the electronic music side, the famed “Five Hours” producer included a few songs from his EDM contemporaries, including MORTEN (“Beautiful Heartbeat” with Frida Sundemo) and KSHMR and KARRA (“The World We Left Behind”). However, Deorro leans heavily into Latin music for the majority of the playlist, a move that should not be considered surprising after he confirmed his new direction back in May ...

Brothers Chris and Rich Robinson, who reunited in 2019 after six years apart, have once again admitted that they are in no rush to jump back into the studio to make a new BLACK CROWES album. The revamped band is currently scheduled to embark on a summer tour to mark the 30th anniversary of its 1990 debut album, “Shake Your Money Maker”, but there are no plans for THE BLACK CROWES to record new music. “Rich and I, our focus, like anyone else, is to get through this pandemic and get back to where we can do the thing we love [to do],” Chris told AXS TV‘s “At Home And Social” (see video below). “I miss going to see music as much as I miss playing. And I know all of our friends for many, many decades and in many different places around the world w...
THE OFFSPRING singer Bryan “Dexter” Holland and guitarist Kevin “Noodles” Wasserman spoke to Matt Pinfield of KLOS‘s “New & Approved” series about the band’s upcoming tenth studio album, “Let The Bad Times Roll”, which will arrive on April 16 via Concord Records. The follow-up to 2012’s “Days Go By” was produced by Bob Rock, who also worked on the band’s last two LPs. Asked what it’s like working with Rock again, Noodles said: “Bob‘s the best. He’s like a member of the family now. This is studio where we recorded the record. Bob will fly out from wherever he’s at in the world and spend a few weeks with us here. We show up in the morning, have some coffee, talk about, ‘...
RATING: 8/10 Aside from recluses, few would say they’ve enjoyed the forced seclusion related to the pandemic. It’s been a social-life crippling nuisance at best, and an anxiety and depression fueling catalyst that’s led to many suicides on the more extreme, opposite end of the spectrum. Live music fanatics have suffered, obviously, but the impact upon the hardcore community is significantly more pronounced compared to numerous other genres. That’s because live music is the absolute focus of hardcore music and culture. For the better part of 20 years, TERROR has been one of hardcore’s guiding lights, so a new album from the LA-based crew is reason for celebration amongst the hardcore community, especially considering how good the new effort is. “Trapped I...
A new biopic about Jeff Buckley in development with the full support of the late musician’s estate. It’s titled Everybody Here Wants You and will star Reeve Carney in the lead role. Orian Williams will helm the project, marking his directorial debut. Carney is perhaps best known for playing Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the Broadway staging of Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark. He also had a reoccurring role in the Showtime series Penny Dreadful. Williams, meanwhile, is an Oscar and Golden Globe-nominated producer, who previously helped bring the story of Joy Division’s Ian Curtis to the screen with the 2007 film Control. This will mark his first in the director’s chair, however. According to Variety, Everybody Here Wants You has the full support of Jeff Buckley’s estate and will have access...

Back in 2019, Fleetwood Mac wrapped up an epic 50th anniversary world tour that served as their first proper string of live shows since parting ways with Lindsey Buckingham the year prior. Now, de facto bandleader and drummer Mick Fleetwood has revealed that he wants to do a proper farewell tour with the whole band, including Buckingham himself — marking a dramatic 180-degree turn from where he stood exactly a year ago. In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Fleetwood explained that the coronavirus pandemic has given him ample time to reevaluate his relationships and goals. Arguably the biggest one on his mind is getting everyone back together again to perform live one last time, especially after the band’s celebrated guitarist and co-founder Peter Green passed away unexpectedly last ...
Melbourne songwriter Maple Glider has signed to Partisan Records and shared the new single “Good Thing”. The artist born Tori Ziestch joins a stacked Partisan roster that includes Laura Marling, Fela Kuti, IDLES, and Fontaines D.C. She has a sweet, smoky voice which she likes to keep at a whisper — the better to add drama when she unleashes a powerful belt. Her label debut “Good Thing” is a slowed-down guitar track, with stately strumming enlivened by the occasional crisp snap of a drum. Lyrically, the song explores the sadness and confusion of a relationship near its end. “But I guess that’s how we learn,” she sings as the music swells. “By setting fire to things that bring us life/ Before we’ve got to watch them burn.” In a statement, she explained the intention behind the track, w...
But she does have something else in mind, suggesting that the NBC series should “kick this up a notch.” The 80-year-old multi-platinum singer addressed the show in a short “My Response to SNL & I’m Calling Out Wendy Williams, Let’s Talk!” clip on her YouTube channel, where she will be launching her very own talk show, Dionne Speaks. And you’ve probably already guessed who she wants the first guest to be. “Thank you for the wonderful skit you did last night. I had a ball laughing,” she said, grinning from ear to ear. “And I want you to know you guys must be reading my mind because I’m getting ready to do my own talk show. And I’d love for my very first guest to be — mmhm, you guessed it — Ms. Wendy William...
