So far on Season 36 of The Challenge — and save for some untimely exits from the game — things have been status quo: No Purges, no Mercenaries, no game-ending spider bites. Well, host TJ Lavin decided on tonight’s episode that the waters had become placid enough and finally pulled the rug out from under the Double Agents. Now, the question remains: What is the Security Breach, and how will it affect the next few critical moments in The Crater? After a commanding victory in “Black Sand Ops” (but a self-proclaimed bungling of the subsequent Crater vote), Gabby and Devin sought to lengthen their win streak in “Air Lift.” The game challenged partners to grab onto ropes that dangled from a moving helicopter, fall into a designated drop zone in the water below and swim to a target, at whic...
By Brennan Carley In 1998, Britney Spears traveled to Stockholm to record songs for her debut album, …Baby One More Time, with producers like Max Martin and Rami Yacoub. She was one of many stars at the time who ventured to the Swedish city to capitalize on the words and sounds of its burgeoning pop scene. Months later, at a dance school only a few miles away, a team of record label executives convened to audition a group of 100 teenagers for a project they were calling the “ABBA Teens,” an homage to Sweden’s most popular musical export. That year, ABBA were celebrating their 25th anniversary as a group, though they hadn’t released new music in nearly two decades. Beloved by an older generation of Swedes, ABBA were known around the world for their outrageous (and tax-evading) costume...
By Danielle Chelosky Dylan Baldi has a lot of ground to cover. The leader of prolific Ohio indie rock band Cloud Nothings could be talking about July 2020’s quarantine album The Black Hole Understands; December’s follow-up Life Is Only One Event; one of their 27 live albums all unleashed last year; their seven Bandcamp exclusive EPs released from August 2020 until now; or this month’s new LP, The Shadow I Remember, which drops on February 26. Or he could be discussing his noseless dog, Lavender, who he adopted with his girlfriend, Sadie Dupuis of Speedy Ortiz, around Christmastime. “She’s a one-of-a-kind dog,” Baldi tells MTV News. “People will just stop and be like, ‘Look at this dog,’ and want to be with this dog in a way like no other dog I’ve seen,” he says. “It’s like having a rare Po...

Corry also posted a teaser of the track on his Instagram, hinting at bouncy, festival-ready dance-pop tune overlaid with Raye’s feathery vocals. Originally garnering attention with his smash single “Head & Heart” with MNEK, Corry knows this sonic territory well. Meanwhile, the seamless integration of vocals and synths speaks to Guetta’s finesse. He has previously worked with Raye on two additional tracks, inclu...

Just like the countless concert venues who have felt the wrath of COVID-19 over the course of the past year, Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre is adjusting to the new norm. According to Denver CBS affiliate KKTV, the fabled open air venue is planning a “big announcement” in April after submitting COVID-19 variance requests to city and state health officials. CBS Denver adds that fans can expect a much different concert experience than years past due to new safety measures instated to mitigate the spread of the virus, such as mask-wearing and vastly reduced capacity. “You know you’ll still be able to see a show and you’ll be in the venue, but it’s not going to feel that same way as it has in the past,” said Red Rocks spokesman Brian Kit...
AFI will release its eleventh album, “Bodies”, on June 11 via Rise Records. The LP was produced and engineered by AFI guitarist Jade Puget, while the mixing was handled by Tony Hoffer. Two new songs from “Bodies”, “Looking Tragic” and “Begging For Trouble”, can be streamed below. “‘Looking Tragic’ addresses the theme of overstimulation resulting in desensitization,” says frontman Davey Havok. “Melodic and driving, the song came to life quickly and immediately stood out as a track to make bodies, if not sentiments, move.” Drummer Adam Carson adds: “After years of receiving early versions of songs from Jade and Davey, in forms that span loosely arranged chords and scratch vocal to fully realized demos, ...
Professionally filmed video of AEROSMITH‘s Steven Tyler and ZZ TOP‘s Billy Gibbons performing a cover version of the FLEETWOOD MAC song “Rattlesnake Shake” can be seen below. The footage was filmed on February 25, 2020 — mere days before the first case of COVID-19 was discovered in the United Kingdom, as the ongoing pandemic necessitated the suspension of modern society — at a very special concert at the legendary Palladium in London celebrating the songs of Peter Green and the original incarnation of FLEETWOOD MAC. The audience at that sold-out show witnessed something unique at what would be the last live concert anyone would attend until further notice. This show also now takes on a particularly poignant meaning, with the unfortunate passing of Peter Green in Jul...
Earlier this month, BEHEMOTH frontman Adam “Nergal” Darski was convicted for offending religious feelings by a court in Warsaw. The charges stemmed from an image the Polish musician posted on social media showing a foot stamping on a picture of the Virgin Mary. Darski was ordered to pay a fine of 15,000 złoty (approximately $4,000) and court costs of almost 3,500 zloty (approximately $942). However, since Darski has contested the judgement, the case will now go to trial. In a new interview with The Irish Times, Nergal said he is appealing his conviction because not doing so will result in him having a criminal record and therefore not being able to tour in many countries, including the United States and Australia. “I don’t think the public know the details of the le...
In celebration of the 40th anniversary of RUSH‘s “Moving Pictures” album and to honor the late Neil Peart, Consequence Of Sound gathered four renowned drummers via video Zoom to discuss the album and the legacy of RUSH‘s legendary stickman. Taking part in the round-table discussion were Mike Portnoy (DREAM THEATER, THE WINERY DOGS, SONS OF APOLLO), Charlie Benante (ANTHRAX), Matt Halpern (PERIPHERY) and Arejay Hale (HALESTORM). Speaking about the greatness and influence of Peart, including how it compares to that of another iconic drummer, late LED ZEPPELIN member John Bonham, Portnoy said (see video below): “I think John Bonham has been universally acclaimed as one of the greatest of all time, and deservingly so — he really, really is deserving of that. But w...
