Spotify hosted their version of an Apple-style product launch this week during their Steam On event. During the virtual program, which livestreamed on Monday, they broke down the power that audio has, the journey of music creation, and all the opportunities they have planned for both creators and the billions of fans who use their platform. One of those new features is the introduction of Spotify Clips. The format will look familiar because, just like Instagram, Spotify is drawing influence from Snapchat with the implementation of an ephemeral video format. The feature has been in the works since last year, when it was tentatively titled “Storyline,” but its beta testing phase was designated only for a few big names, like Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Lopez....
When EDM.com Class of 2021 artist BLVK JVCK joined forces with dubstep heavyweight Riot Ten, it was obvious that something huge was in the making. While we were all trapped indoors, the duo swooped in to save the day with their $teve Cannon-assisted single “TIK TOK.” The rowdy track had fans turning their homes into mosh-pits back in October, and they’re now ready to do it all over again with the release of track’s official music video. In the fever dream of a video, we see Cannon surrounded by a bevy of video vixens as they get wild during a poker game. The trippy visuals are the perfect pairing for this hybrid hip-hop and bass behemoth. Check out the video in full below. FOLLOW BLVK JVCK: Facebook: facebook.com/BLVKJVCKTwitter: twitt...
Rising dubstep music producer LEVEL UP has officially signed to United Talent Agency, one of the nation’s premier agencies. It’s a pivotal and well-deserved moment in the budding career of the rising beatsmith, who is one of the bass music scene’s brightest young producers. Brothers Chris and Rich Robinson of THE BLACK CROWES spoke to Radio.com about the 30th-anniversary reissue of their their multi-platinum 1990 debut album, “Shake Your Money Maker”, as well as their upcoming tour. The trek will be the band’s first since THE BLACK CROWES officially disbanded in 2014, with Rich Robinson releasing a statement at the time suggesting his brother demanded that he give up his equal share of the band. Asked about their current relationship, Chris said: “I would say [we have a] great relationship, because I understand — and I’m a man, so I can deal with it — I understand where I let my brother down over the years, where I really should have been his brother, but I wasn’t his brother — even though my actions at the time facilitated...
MEGADETH bassist David Ellefson spoke to the “Do You Know Jack?” podcast about how the advent of the Internet has changed the terrain of the music industry, particulary in an era when most music streaming services offer on-demand access to media where users can stream a song without having to download it. “The music business, and especially with the Internet, boy, things change every six months — the speed at which it develops,” Ellefson said (hear audio below). “The old formulas, of course, and the old guard of the music business, they were challenged in the ’90s with Napster. That was the first time the evil horns of the Internet reared its head and said, ‘Hey, we’re going a different way.’ And, of course, the old guard of the record ...
David Coverdale has offered an update on the proposed 30th-anniversary re-release of his collaboration with Jimmy Page. The well-received COVERDALE PAGE set was recorded in several studios on both sides of the Atlantic over the winter of 1991-92 before it was finally released in March 1993. Asked during a February 18 appearance on SiriusXM‘s “Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk” if there has been any progress on a possible reissue of COVERDALE PAGE‘s eponymously titled LP, David said: “Well, I’ve gotta tell you, there’s been immense progress. I finally reached a very positive agreement with my former record company regarding missing assets. And I got the rights to the COVERDALE PAGE album. So, of course, my first phone call was to Jimmy, and I said, R...
Former AC/DC drummer Simon Wright says that he was never approached about playing drums for the band after Phil Rudd was arrested for drug possession and threatening to kill an employee. “The phone didn’t ring at all,” Simon told SiriusXM‘s “Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk”. “I get asked that quite a lot. No, it didn’t ring. I wasn’t looking for it. I don’t know. I wasn’t expecting a call — put it that way — and I didn’t pursue it, I must admit. I did hear some things about what was going on, but to have put my foot in it wouldn’t have been cool. So, that’s it. That’s the way it goes. They didn’t call. That’s no problem for me. I’ve got lots of stuff to do.” Chris Slade ended up ...
