Following up on a January promise to provide Burning Man 2021 updates by mid-February, organizers have officially released a new statement via the Burning Man Project‘s blog. The production grandmasters at Serato Studio and Splice are summoning all music producers for a beatmaking battle for the ages. Their joint competition, BeatFighter Slam Dunk, will pit producers against each other in a head-to-head competition for the chance to be crowned a beatmaking champion. DC Films and Warner Bros. have announced that Angel Manuel Soto will direct their upcoming superhero movie Blue Beetle. Soto, known for last year’s Charm City Kings, will work from a script by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer (the upcoming Scarface remake). The studios are obviously aware of the importance of bringing on Latino filmmakers for the project (Soto is Puerto Rican, Dunnet-Alcocer is Mexican), as it will be the DC Extended Universe’s first Latino-led superhero story.
