WHITESNAKE’s DAVID COVERDALE Uses Twitter To Help People Get Through The ‘Difficult’, ‘Dark Days’

WHITESNAKE frontman David Coverdale spoke to The Outhouse about his hilarious Twitter feed which sees him primarily sharing memes that poke fun at relationships between men and women and play on our everyday contemporary concerns. “One of the things, I think, that’s helped me get through [the pandemic] is the amount of humor that comes through my e-mail or my text box,” the singer said (hear audio below). “I have maybe 20 friends [who send me stuff]… I don’t post political stuff. I’m very politically involved, but it’s so unsavory and divisive right now, it’s not welcome on my web site. “Were you following me when I was doing those acoustic things in the mornings? My wife would be, ‘I’m trying to sleep here.’ I’m...

WOLFGANG VAN HALEN Recalls ‘Most Unusual’ Things That Happened To Him While Performing

During HardDrive Radio‘s “Ask Anything Chat”, Wolfgang Van Halen was asked to name the strangest or most unusual thing that’s happened to him onstage. He responded (see video below): “There was a guy in San Jose who was flipping me off the whole time in the crowd. And throughout the show, I had this battle of my emotions on how to handle it. And by the end, I was, like, ‘I could probably throw him out. That’s a proper response to that, right?’ So, yeah, I did. And it was good that there wasn’t a guy flipping me off anymore. [Laughs]” He continued: “Another one was — I think it was in Kansas City, in 2015, on the VAN HALEN tour, there was a ginormous bug — like, huge; the size of my phone — that landed on my dad’s pedal...

It’s what we need to be in a world where everything is uncertain — even the near future. Since the beginning of our band, we have promoted compassion versus competition and love versus hate. The point of ‘Fortitude’ is to inspire people to be the best version of themselves and to be strong no matter what. R...

COREY TAYLOR: ‘I Hate All New Rock For The Most Part’

In a brand new interview with “Cutter’s Rockcast”, Corey Taylor decried a lack of originality in modern rock music, saying he hates most young rock artists who are not even trying to come up with anything fresh. The SLIPKNOT and STONE SOUR frontman explained (see video below): “I look at some of these bands that sound like this or sound like that or sound like the other guy, and it’s just, like, well, they obviously listened to two albums that have been out for a minute. But the ones that really frustrate me are the ones that they take something that’s been around forever and then just basically rework it and call it new — even though it’s completely derivative. You know the band they’re ripping off — they’re not even trying to rip off ...

Twitch’s DMCA Problem Shines as Official Channel Hilariously Censors Metallica Concert With 8-Bit Video Game Music

Over the course of the last pandemic-filled year, Twitch has become the go-to place for a lot of musicians to perform and interact with fans without breaking quarantine. The fact that it was actually designed for livestreams (unlike Instagram, Facebook, or YouTube) made it a natural fit for those who weren’t looking to play awkward drive-in concerts or other “socially distanced” shows. Unfortunately, the platform’s surge of popularity within the music world also exposed one of Twitch’s biggest problems, which is the ongoing battle over streaming music rights all centered around the Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998 (better known as the DMCA). To make an extremely long story that you can read elsewhere short, Twitch has an algorithm that automatically mutes streams (or portions ...

George R.R. Martin, photo via Henry Söderlund/WikiCommons George R.R. Martin is conjuring up more dragons for HBO, only this time, they’re not his own creations. The man behind Game of Thrones is executive producing an adaptation of novelist Roger Zelazny’s sci-fi book Roadmarks alongside writer, EP, and showrunner Kalinda Vazquez. Published in 1979, Roadmarks centers on an intertemporal highway constructed by the mysterious Dragons of Bel’kwinith. Off ramps along the route lead to different points in time in different places, with a special few individuals who have access to the Road able to travel between timelines. They can also change events in the past to alter the future, causing old exits to become inaccessible and new ones to open up. Zelazny was a personal friend of Martin before ...

Metallica’s BlizzCon Performance Audio Replaced With Goofy Instrumental Music on Twitch: Watch

Metallica headlined video-game maker Blizzard Entertainment’s virtual BlizzCon 2021 event on Friday (February 19th), but those watching on Twitch were treated to an evening of  … elevator music. Due to copyright concerns, Twitch replaced Metallica’s thunderous brand of heavy metal with a generic instrumental that made the legendary band’s performance look downright silly. Things started out okay, with frontman James Hetfield introducing the performance by recalling how Metallica headlined the typically in-person Blizzcon event back in 2014, adding, “We would love to be there this year, but obviously can’t be … so here we are, and this is for you.” Beaming in from their Bay Area band headquarters, Metallica launched into their classic song “For Whom the Bell Tolls”, and everything soun...

Disgraced Director Brett Ratner to Attempt Comeback with Biopic on Disgraced Duo Milli Vanilli

Filmmaker Brett Ratner, disgraced following sexual misconduct allegations, is attempting a comeback with a biopic on Milli Vanilli, disgraced after an infamous lip-syncing scandal. Deadline reports that Millennium Media (The Expendables, The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard) has joined Ratner’s RatPac Entertainment in developing the project. Olivia Munn said the filmmaker had masturbated in front of her and boasted of ejaculating on pictures of her while on set of 2004’s After the Sunset. Natasha Henstridge accused him of forcing her to perform oral sex on him at a part...

There are two types of hype in the music business. One type makes it feel like an artist has the primal forces of nature behind them, controlling all media and advertising to make it seem like their next album will not only be the next canonical masterpiece to change music forever, but also the antidote to all that ails our suffering species and planet. And, then, there’s the type of hype that seemingly finds root in the tiniest speck of soil imaginable and slowly grows from th...

De La Soul Guest Star to Battle a Music-Stealing Monster on Teen Titans Go!

And now, the real-life battle has taken on a new meaning on the small screen. As their music continues to be gobbled up by the monster, De La Soul...
