For the first time in over a decade, New Zealand natives Crowded House are back with a brand new single from their upcoming album, Dreamers Are Waiting (June 4 via BMG). Perhaps even more impressively, the non-dream-themed song, “To The Island,” also comes with an announcement of the expansion of Crowded House’s New Zealand tour for next month. The “To The Island” tour now contains 12 dates spread across a few weeks in March and should be a good reminder of what’s possible when a country takes pandemic safety measures seriously. “We were fortunate to be recording in the studio right before lockdown and so began this album with band tracks recorded live in a room, all brimming with character and energy,” said founding vocalist Neil Finn in a statement.” We then spent our strangest...

Remember Criss Angel? The Mindfreak illusionist and television star who blew minds in the 2010s by walking on water and ripping people’s bodies in half? After making the tough decision to suspend his longtime Mindfreak show at Planet Hollywood due to COVID-19 concerns, Angel has teamed up with Vegas entertainment veteran Franco Dragone on a new venture called “Mr. Smiles & Molly.” Dragone, perhaps best known for his work with Cirque du Soleil and Celine Dion, said the new show will be a “bold fusion between the world of electronic music and theatre,” according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “Mr. Smiles & Molly” which is being billed as “a surreal pre-nightclub experience,” will be produced jointly by D...
Memorial Day weekend in Detroit will be a bit dimmer this year after the organizers of Detroit’s Movement Electronic Music Festival decided to pull the plug on its 2021 edition. Citing the impact of COVID-19, representatives took to social media to share the news in a joint statement with Paxahau, which produces the fest in Detroit’s Hart Plaza. “We have been looking forward to reuniting with all of you on Memorial Day weekend, but the ongoing pandemic and state regulations have led us to the painful realization that our beloved Movement Festival will not happen in May 2021,” the statement reads. The announcement adds that organizers are “working hard to provide updates about future dates and ticketing options,” which they say will arrive when ...
As the COVID-19 pandemic rages on, a number of marquee Las Vegas pool clubs are set to reopen after a year of unprecedented cancellations and layoffs. The imminent return of the clubs are attributed to Directive 037, a new edict signed and executed by Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak on February 14th that eases COVID-19 restrictions across the state. The order effectively relaxed restrictions on public gatherings by allowing those of 100 people, or 35% of a venue’s capacity—whichever is less. In January, Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman said that Las Vegas is “ready to welcome back the world” in her annual State of the City address. Famed MGM Grand pool party destination Wet Republic, which has featured electronic music superstars such as Ma...
Tony Iommi has received the COVID-19 vaccine. The 72-year-old BLACK SABBATH guitarist, who was diagnosed with the early stages of lymphoma more than nine years ago, shared that he got the shot in a new interview with Greg Prato of Consequence Of Sound. Asked how he is doing health-wise at the moment, Iommi said: “Hopefully okay. Funny enough, I had a blood test yesterday, and I also had my [COVID] virus vaccine jab yesterday, as well. I always have myself checked over regularly and try to keep on top of anything that might pop up. Of course, at my age, things pop up. But I feel fine and everything seems to be — touch wood — going all right at the moment.” Iommi, who is promoting the upcoming deluxe editions of BLACK SABBATH‘s “Heaven And Hell” and “Mob R...
THE DEAD DAISIES‘ Doug Aldrich has once again spoken out about the recent departure of Deen Castronovo. The drummer announced his exit from the group two days after THE DEAD DAISIES‘ publicist revealed that Tommy Clufetos (BLACK SABBATH, OZZY OSBOURNE, ROB ZOMBIE, TED NUGENT, ALICE COOPER) will rejoin the band when they hit the road in support of their new album, “Holy Ground”. Clufetos previously toured with THE DEAD DAISIES in 2015. In a new interview with Jeff Gaudiosi of MisplacedStraws.com, Aldrich stated about Castronovo‘s decision to leave THE DEAD DAISIES: “We got to rehearse, actually, in October. It cooled down a little bit in Los Angeles, and everybody came in; me and Glenn [Hughes, bass/vocals] were already here. And we got to rehearse. But D...
A short video of Charlie Benante putting down drums on a demo version of a new ANTHRAX song can be seen below. Charlie shared the clip on his Instagram, writing in a caption: “Beating the beat down for a new demo #anthrax 2021’ish”. Last November, ANTHRAX guitarist Scott Ian told “Whiplash”, the KLOS radio show hosted by Full Metal Jackie, that he and his bandmates likely won’t release any music until the coronavirus pandemic has subsided and they are able to tour in support of the effort. “That’s where I am personally right at this moment,” he said. “Six months from now, who knows where the world is gonna be? We don’t know. Maybe things will be closer to being back to normal; maybe they’ll be further away from back to...
