The Lucas Bros. Talk ‘Judas & The Black Messiah,’ Growing Up In Newark & More

Source: The Lucas Bros / TLB It has been said that comedians are among the sharpest minds when it comes to bringing cultural commentary to the masses in a relatable fashion. The Lucas Bros are part of a long lineage of funnymen who use humor and sharp wit to speak on social ills, and they graciously shared details of their work on the upcoming Judas & The Black Messiah film and much more. Hip-Hop Wired had the good fortune of speaking at length with brothers Kenny and Keith Lucas regarding their story that framed the backdrop of Judas & The Black Messiah, starring Daniel Kaluuya in the main role as Fred Hampton, and directed by Shaka King. Given the serious themes present in the film, we asked the brothers to lay out their early beginnings and how their profession as comedians brou...

Source: PYMCA / Getty Real ones know that Freddie Gibbs can spit bars when he’s in the booth and though he’s been making more noise lately for his drama with his Hip-Hop peers, we recognize he’s more than a street dude in the rap game. On a softer note, Eric Bellinger links up with Hitmaka and for their clip to “Only You” woos a thick young woman by the beach with some high notes and smooth words. Check out the rest of today’s drops including work from Pooh Shiesty, Snap Dogg, and more. FREDDIE GIBBS FT. SCHOOLBOY Q – “GANG SIGN...

Royce da 5’9 Trolls Benzino After Ridiculous Boxing Match Challenge [Video]

Source: Catherine McGann / Getty Benzino is still salty at some folks almost 20 years later after the fact. One individual is hitting him where it hurts. As spotted on Complex the Boston native recently went on Instagram Live with Queenzflip. While the conversation originally spawned out of him calling out the emerging media personality for showing favoritism to certain artists, the talk track then pivoted to Ray’s indelible hate towards Eminem. So much so the Boston native challenged Slim Shady and his long time collaborator Royce da 5’9 to a boxing match. “I will fight any one of these n***as. At 55-and-a-half-years-old. I will step in the ring with any of these n***as,” he revealed. “I feel like I’m in great shape. I would love to step in the ring with Royce or Eminem. And we can d...

COREY TAYLOR Has Commenced Work On His Fifth Book

During an appearance yesterday (Tuesday, February 9) on the Talkulture Twitch channel, SLIPKNOT and STONE SOUR frontman Corey Taylor revealed that he has started work on his fifth book. “I haven’t really cracked the skin on it yet, but it’s definitely starting to ferment — it’s starting to solidify and become an idea,” he said. “And it might not be released this year, but it will definitely be done this year.” He continued: “The last one took so much out of me that it really kind of left a bad taste in my mouth — it was just a lot of stress. And a lot of that could have been [due] to the living situation that I was in at the time with my previous relationship really kind of culminating to its end. But at the same time, it was exhausting makin...

Välde – HUMANITY’S LAST BREATH

RATING: 8/10 It’s not easy to stand out in an increasingly overcrowded death metal/deathcore marketplace, but Sweden’s HUMANITY’S LAST BREATH have already established themselves as a unique force in ultra-modern brutality. Detonating like a sack of sledgehammers chucked through your living room window, “Välde” arrives only 18 months on from the venomous and angular “Abyssal”, somehow nudging the band’s extremity fader even further into the red in the process. Given the ongoing global clusterfuck, we probably shouldn’t be overly surprised that HUMANITY’S LAST BREATH are even more pissed off than usual, but bearing all that in mind, this slams with startling levels of livid conviction, from brooding start to bruising finish. As with...

ALICE COOPER Gets COVID-19 Vaccine After Previously Contracting Coronavirus

According to AZCentral, Alice Cooper and his wife have gotten the COVID-19 vaccine after previously contracting the novel coronavirus. In a video statement, the 73-year-old singer revealed that he and Sheryl Cooper received the vaccine at a facility in Phoenix. They got their shots through Team Rubicon, a nonprofit organization that pairs military veterans with first responders to help in times of need. Arizona allows people 65 and over to make appointments to get the vaccine. Last March, Cooper told Arizona Republic that he felt “less vulnerable” in his house than he does in a different hotel every day. “You don’t know who’s been there, what they’ve touched,” he explained. “When I was in Europe, I spent all day doing Purell, washing my hands...

Bruce Springsteen Blew a 0.02 During DWI Arrest — Quarter of the Legal Limit

Last November, Bruce Springsteen was arrested and cited for a DWI, reckless driving, and consuming alcohol in a closed area. However, new information reveals that his blood-alcohol content at the time of the arrest was just 0.02 — a quarter of the legal limit in New Jersey. Springsteen was detained on November 14th at Gateway National Recreation Area, a federal park in New Jersey. According to the Asbury Park Press, a source familiar with the case confirmed that Springsteen’s BAC was nowhere near the number needed to be arrested. In all states except for Utah, it is illegal for anyone 21 years or older to operate a vehicle with a BAC of 0.08 or higher. A BAC level of 0.02, which Springsteen had, is “the lowest level of intoxication” that can impact the brain, resulting in a slightly a...

Gina Carano Fired From The Mandalorian Following “Abhorrent” Social Media Posts

Lucasfilm has cut ties with The Mandalorian actress Gina Carano following a series of “abhorrent and unacceptable” social media postings. Carano had portrayed former Rebel Alliance soldier Cara Dune in the first two seasons of the widely popular Disney Plus series. She had emerged as a fan-favorite on the show, and Lucasfim had even considered a spinoff series starring Carano’s character, according to The Hollywood Reporter. However, in recent months Carano courted controversy for social media posts in which she spread misinformation about voter fraud and mask wearing. She also mocked individuals who used preferred pronouns on social media by listing “beep/bop/boop” in her Twitter bio. More recently, she came under fire for an Instagram post comparing being a ...

Morgan Wallen Uploads Apology Video: I Was “On Hour 72” of a Bender

Morgan Wallen has uploaded a lengthy video in which he apologizes for using a racial slur. The clip, titled “Update from me”, is five minutes long and was uploaded to YouTube on Wednesday night — more than a week after the initial incident was made public. On February 2nd, footage of Wallen using the n-word was posted to TMZ. In the video, which was filmed by his neighbor, Wallen can be seen drunkenly yelling, “Take care of this pussy ass motherfucker. Take care of this pussy ass n****.” In the immediate aftermath of the video’s release, Wallen told TMZ he was “embarrassed and sorry” about what he said. The fallout was swift and massive: Wallen’s record contract was suspended, his music was pulled from playlists and radio, he lost his talent agency, and he was officially barred from t...

Phoebe Bridgers Talks SNL Guitar Smash and Marilyn Manson on CNN: Watch

Phoebe Bridgers has been the talk of the Internet this week thanks to an iconic Saturday Night Live performance and her “horrible” experience at Marilyn Manson’s house. Now, she has opened up about both of those moments in a new video interview with CNN’s Christiane Amanpour. Amanpour began the 14-minute-long TV segment by asking Bridgers about her SNL performance, specifically the guitar smash that has drawn both melodramatic criticism and praise. As it turns out, the whole thing was staged, all the way down to wielding a cheap guitar and using a fake monitor intentionally designed to collapse and shoot sparks. “I’ve always wanted to do it and when I mentioned it to the show, they built me this whole monitor that would look like it was exploded even if I wasn’t hitting it that hard,” expl...
