Despite being among the greatest songwriters of his generation, Jason Isbell has never had a song or album be certified Gold (500,000 units sold) or Platinum (1 million) by the RIAA, with one exception: his 2013 classic “Cover Me Up”, which went Platinum after Morgan Wallen covered it in 2019. Now, in the aftermath of Wallen getting caught on video using a racial slur, Isbell has vowed to donate all of his proceeds from “Cover Me Up” to the Nashville chapter of the NAACP. After footage showed Wallen using the N-word, his sales skyrocketed, which helped his new album Dangerous earn the No. 1 spot in America. On February 10th, Isbell quote-tweeted an article about Wallen’s perverse successes, writing, “So… A portion of this money goes to me, since I wrote ‘Cover Me Up.’” He added, “I’ve deci...

Well that didn’t last long. Three days ago on Super Bowl Sunday, Jeep unveiled their new ad “The Middle”, which had the honor of being the first-ever commercial to feature Bruce Springsteen. But after reports emerged this morning that The Boss had been charged with a DWI late last year, Jeep had to throw the whole campaign in reverse. Now, as InsideHook reports, the commercial has been yanked from YouTube and Jeep’s social media pages, and the company seems to be mulling junking the whole thing. On November 14th, Springsteen was arrested in Gateway National Recreation Area and charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, and consuming alcohol in a closed area. National Park Spokesperson Daphne Yun told the New York Times that, “Springsteen was cooperative throug...
We’re already halfway to the next episode of Saturday Night Live, and old fogies like David Crosby still can’t stop talking about Phoebe Bridgers smashing her guitar at the end of her set on the show last weekend. To (hopefully) quell the criticism once and for all, the songwriter went on CNN to explain why she performed the act that started the dumbest controversy of 2021 to date. “I’ve always wanted to do it, and when I mentioned it to the show, they built me this whole monitor that would look like it was exploding even if I wasn’t hitting it that hard,” Bridgers told CNN’s Christiane Amanpour. “So yeah, [it was] just a bucket list thing.” Earlier this week, the feud heated up when Crosby ripped Bridgers (for no reason) for the incident and she responded in kind. Of course, one...

In documents obtained by TMZ, Mrs. Young wants to sit down with the women for depositions and find out whether or not the “California Love” rapper was spreading a bit too much love on his side-pieces or not. In the docs, Nicole claims the women’s lawyer is trying to delay their depositions until the validity of the prenup is decided … but Nicole wants answers sooner rather than later, because she says it could affec...
Finnish melancholic progressive metallers AMORPHIS have entered Sonic Pump studios in Helsinki to begin recording their fourteenth album. The follow-up to “Queen Of Time” is tentatively due later this year via Nuclear Blast. “Queen Of Time” came out in May 2018 via Nuclear Blast. The follow-up to 2015’s “Under The Red Cloud” included the use of real strings, flutes, orchestral arrangements and even choirs. In addition, this was the first time that people were able to hear AMORPHIS lyricist Pekka Kainulainen on an album, as he contributed a speech in Finnish. AMORPHIS recently released a shaped vinyl single, “Brother And Sister”, limited to 666 copies via Nuclear Blast. The band also started the pre-order for its special 30th-anniversary...

In a new interview with Wacken Radio, former ACCEPT and current U.D.O. singer Udo Dirkschneider was asked how he keeps his voice in shape after all these years. He responded (hear audio below): “It’s very interesting. Some stuff, when I’m singing now, it would be not possible to sing this 15 years or 20 years ago. Especially the lower range is getting much better. And also what Stefan Kaufmann [U.D.O. producer and former ACCEPT drummer] said to me when we did this ‘We Are One’ album [last year] — he was doing all the recordings — and he said, ‘This is crazy.’ He said, ‘You hit notes that you did on [ACCEPT‘s] ‘Breaker’ [1981] record. It’s impossible.’ I said, ‘I don’t know. Don’t ask me.'”...
