JOURNEY singer Arnel Pineda says that meeting the band’s original vocalist Steve Perry was “one of the most glorious moments” of his life. Pineda and Perry finally crossed paths when JOURNEY and its former singer shared the stage at their induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in April 2017. While accepting the award, Steve spoke warmly about his former bandmates, as well as the man who replaced him. “I must give a shout-out to a man who sings his heart out every night, Arnel Pineda,” Perry said. Speaking to the “Infectious Groove” podcast about that unforgettable night four years ago, Pineda said (hear audio below): “[Steve was] so gracious and so generous. I cannot believe how kind he was, how welcoming he was when he embraced me and...
Roses are red, violets are blue and ICE NINE KILLS has a blood-soaked Valentine’s surprise for you. The horror-themed, theatricore pioneers have put their uniquely hellish spin on a cover of the Elvis Presley classic “Can’t Help Falling In Love” accompanied by a suitably undead, gore-filled video. Speaking on his band’s bloody Valentine’s offering, ICE NINE KILLS fearless leader Spencer Charnas shares: “I’ve always been a big Elvis fan so the idea of taking this classic and splattering it with some signature INK bloodshed struck me as a match made in hell!” ICE NINE KILLS had a bumper year in 2020. When the pandemic hit and their touring plans got cut short, the band, guided by Charnas, quickly pivoted and got to work finding new ways t...
During an appearance earlier today (Tuesday, February 9) on the Talkulture Twitch channel, SLIPKNOT and STONE SOUR frontman Corey Taylor revealed that he has been “toying with the idea” of writing a musical. He said: “[it would be] like a real musical; not [Monty Python‘s] ‘Spamalot’ or anything like that. ‘Cause I’ve kind of gotten in the habit of doing concept albums, obviously, so I know how to tie a story together. And I’ve been toying with the idea of writing a musical based around the people who I spent a large amount of my 20s with in Des Moines [Iowa] — like my crew, and how we all found each other, how the misfits came together and found each other, and we kind of saved each other. “We all came from these crazy balls of e...
Liz Phair is back with her first new song in two years, a tribute to Lou Reed and Laurie Anderson called “Hey Lou.” The track is pretty much exactly what you would expect from Phair at this point, featuring the intelligent lyrics, memorable chorus, and iconic guitar tones that have made her a legendary figure over the decades. It was produced by Brad Wood. “Have you ever wondered what love looks like for your favorite celebrity couple behind closed doors?” Phair said in a statement. “‘Hey Lou’ imagines a day in the life of two music legends, whose union was an inspiration for rock bands and a source of curiosity for die hard romantics.” The track also comes with a music video featuring strangely accurate puppet versions of Reed and Anderson, as one does when releasing music in the middle o...

Blige (“See What You’ve Done” from Belly of the Beast), H.E.R. (“Fight For You” from Judas and the Black Messiah), and Leslie Odom, Jr. (“Speak Now” from One Night...
