Following the launch of their new fan-oriented platform Sleeps Society and the announcement of their fifth album “Sleeps Society”, Sheffield’s metal impresarios WHILE SHE SLEEPS have revealed their hard-hitting new single “You Are All You Need”. “Sleeps Society” arrives April 16 via Sleeps Brothers/Spinefarm Records. “We somehow managed to inject enough personal inspiration from each member for it to completely embody ‘the SLEEPS sound’ with ease,” says guitarist Sean Long. “We are always trying to express a certain kind of emotion or internal insight and sometimes you really hit the nail on the head, expressing it how you imagined, and other times you miss it completely. Well, this time we hit it dead-on, with no room...

In a new interview with Talking Metal, James Durbin reflected on his time as the singer for QUIET RIOT. Durbin recorded two studio albums with QUIET RIOT — 2017’s “Road Rage” and 2019’s “Hollywood Cowboys” — during his three-year stint with the group. In September 2019, QUIET RIOT parted ways with Durbin and replaced him with Jizzy Pearl. Pearl previously fronted QUIET RIOT from 2013 until October 2016, when he was briefly replaced by Seann Nichols, who played only five shows with the group before the March 2017 arrival of “American Idol” finalist Durbin. Asked how he looks back on his time with QUIET RIOT, Durbin said (hear audio below): “The M3 show [in May 2019] is one of my favorite shows I’ve ever played in my entire life. I ...
THE PRETTY RECKLESS frontwoman Taylor Momsen says that she is optimistic that, in a post-pandemic future, concerts will be “bigger and better than ever.” Momsen, who is promoting THE PRETTY RECKLESS‘s upcoming album, “Death By Rock And Roll”, tells NME that she has a bright perspective of where the touring industry will be once the coronavirus crisis has subsided. “Yeah, I think I’m always hopeful,” she says (see video below). “I’ve got a little hippy in me, so I’m maybe at times naïve, but I think that peace, love and understanding and compassion are things that, as a society, we need to focus on. And I am very hopeful for change and that the world will start to right itself and we’ll get back on track and not be back...
On February 1st, the long-running Brexit saga finally came to an end, and British citizens woke up on an island both figuratively and literally. But the ramifications of the United Kingdom leaving the European Union are still being parsed. On February 8th, Radiohead bassist Colin Greenwood wrote an op-ed in The Guardian that looked at the new requirements for British bands on the Continent and called for the government to “renegotiate on the provision for touring in Europe.” Greenwood opens the op-ed by recalling Radiohead’s first European excursions, the “small clubs and early festival slots across Sweden, The Netherlands and France in a crappy old bus that smelled of diesel and had sad grey curtains.” He adds, “There were so many different kinds of milk.” Beyond the fond memories, G...
It’s been just over a week since Evan Rachel Wood named Marilyn Manson as her abuser. Since then, numerous other women have come forward with stories of sexual assault, psychological abuse, and coercion they experienced at the hands the disgraced musician. The latest to join that chorus is Wolf Alice singer Ellie Rowsell, who claims that Manson once filmed up her skirt without her consent while backstage at a music festival. After offering solidarity to Wood, Rowsell revealed her alleged experience in a public statement. “I met Marilyn backstage at a festival a few years ago,” tweeted Rowsell. “After his compliments towards my band became more and more hyperbolic I became suspicious of his behaviour. I was shocked to look down and see he was filming up my skirt with a GoPro.” “There were n...
“Creative synergies are vital for cities to survive, and our arts and cultural industries have been shut down all across the country, taking a terrible toll on workers and the economy,” said Cuomo in a release. “We want to be aggressive with reopening the State and getting our economy back on track, and NY PopsUp will be an important bridge to the broader reopening of our world-class performance venues and institutions. New York has been a leader throughout this entire pandemic, and we will lead once again with bringing back the arts.” The programming for NY PopsUp will be curated by the interdisciplinary artist Zack Winokur, in partnership with a council of artistic advisors who represent the diversity of New York’s dynamic performing arts scene. The hundreds of fr...
