Grammy-winning and Emmy-nominated songwriter-producer Desmond Child, who is widely recognized as one of music’s most accomplished hitmakers, has revealed that he is working on new music with HALESTORM singer Lzzy Hale. Earlier today (Monday, February 8), Desmond took to his social media to share a couple of photos of Lzzy sitting on top of a piano with Child playing, and he included the following message: “HALE TO THE QUEEN OF ROCK! No not me… the gorgeous and brilliant @officiallzzyhale from the band @halestormrocks. Lzzy is not only an incredible singer and guitarist… she is an accomplished inspired songwriter. We are coming up with some great music together. FUN!” It is not presently clear if Hale and Child are collaborating on music that is intended to appear on...
When Maluma spent seven days in Jamaica, he walked away with a new EP. “On Monday, we did the first song, then on Tuesday, the second song,” he tells MTV News. “It was like a whole experience making the album in seven days.” The result of that excursion was #7DJ (7 Días en Jamaica), the Colombian artist’s newest release, for which he also created seven new music videos. They range from the humid party scene of “Tonika” to the simple, yet cinematically shot “Love” to the narrative-driven “Chocolate.” All of them represent the larger story of Maluma’s trek and the music it yielded, including a collaboration with Ziggy Marley, the son of one of his idols. “Since I started my career, I’ve been making this kind ...
Naimah and Maher became pals in middle school back in 2006, but now the latter is a ghost. And Rachel Lindsay and Travis Mills are going to help Naimah find out why Maher vanished. In a sneak peek of tonight’s brand-new Ghosted: Love Gone Missing episode — which is part of MTV’s special “Love Gone Wrong” week — Naimah gives the co-hosts the background on her perplexing situation. “In January 2017, I sent an email to Maher, and I never got a response. But I didn’t think anything of it,” she said of her buddy, who she met in the seventh grade. “It wasn’t until the following year that I kept actively searching for him. This was October 2018. He wasn’t coming up on Facebook or Instagram, and he wasn’t responding to m...
It’s never a good feeling when you’re playing some of your favorite tunes and your neighbor knocks on your door. Immediately your eyes begin to roll and you begrudgingly stumble over to the door waiting to be lectured about your volume levels. That was not the case for Jody Flemming. While livestreaming a DJ set, he heard his neighbor honking their horn repeatedly. Expecting to see a person outside asking him to turn it down, he instead found a bear standing at his door. On YouTube, he shared a clip of the encounter. When speaking to the Asheville Citizen-Times, he explains the situation and reveals that due to the lighting in the room, he didn’t realize who was at his door until he was almost there. It was my neighbor in the street blowing their horn. That kin...
For many casual or non-sports fans, the Super Bowl Halftime Show is the highlight of the night. Taking the stage at this year’s event was The Weeknd for one of the most talked-about performances in recent memory. This is mostly due to the fact that he made some unique artistic choices that made his fantastic performance stand out from many of the previous run-of-the-mill halftime shows. While some dance music fans were disappointed that Daft Punk didn’t make an appearance (even though The Weeknd clearly stated that he would have no special guests…) it was nice to hear him perform his fan-favorite collaborations with the duo, “Starboy” and “I Feel It Coming.” In addition to the aforementioned singles, he also selected hits like “The Hill...
Back in January, Italian producer Joseph Capriati was hospitalized after being stabbed by his father. His management quickly confirmed that his injuries were not life-threatening but he was still required to stay in the hospital as the attack caused his lung to collapse. Unfortunately, he then shared an update that he suffered complications and was required to undergo a six-hour, life-saving surgery. Over the weekend, he took to Instagram and announced his release from the hospital. The photo shows him smiling in the sunlight. In the caption, he thanks fans for their support and reveals that he’s back to work: “Back to life, and to Music. Perpetually grateful! See you soon.” (translated from Italian) While fans are simply excited to see him in good health o...
At the end of Phoebe Bridgers’ Saturday Night Live performance on Feb. 6, the singer/songwriter clad smashed her guitar. She did it during the culminating, cathartic end of “I Know the End,” the closer to her beloved sophomore effort Punisher. This, for whatever reason, sparked a ridiculous discourse online about smashing guitars—whether it’s privileged to do so, whether it’s corny to do so, etc. On Monday, Bridgers hit back the critics. In an Instagram post of her swinging the guitar, Bridgers included the amazing caption: “got some really great feedback from my performance ! next time I’ll just burn it and it will be more expensive.” In the end, Bridgers didn’t do much damage to the instrument. In a response to Jason Isbell tweeting in defense of her, Bridgers replied: “I told...
This review is part of our Sundance 2021 coverage. The Pitch: 17-year-old Ruby (Emilia Jones) doesn’t have your typical adolescence: the child of a Massachusetts fishing family, she splits her time between the awkwardness of high school and helping her family out on the boat, doing her best to help her family keep the business afloat amid union disputes and predatory fish buyers who try to take advantage of them. There’s another complication: Ruby is the only hearing member of her family, the rest of whom — father Frank (Troy Kotsur), mother Jackie (Marlee Matlin), and brother Leo (Daniel Durant) — are deaf. This places added pressure on her as the one person who can translate ASL to the world around them; she’s inexplicably tethered to them. Of course, Ruby soon discovers she has dreams o...
Dan Harmon, the off-kilter comedy mind behind Community and Rick and Morty, will be taking his talents to ancient Greece. Via The Hollywood Reporter, Fox has given a series order to Harmon’s new animated series and put it on the schedule for 2022. The as-yet untitled show will feature all sorts of strange things out of mythology, including Olympic deities, monstrous creatures, and a functioning democracy. Reportedly, it “centers on a family of humans, gods and monsters that tries to run one of the world’s first cities without killing each other.” In a statement, Fox Entertainment president Michael Thorn spoke about the show’s “irreverent” tone and satirical ambitions, writing, “Leave it to Dan Harmon to turn the mythos of early Greek civilization into remarkably sharp commentary ...

Foo Fighters formed more than 10 years before Cage the Elephant did in 2006, but already the Kentucky rockers have just as many No. 1 singles to their name. As of today, Cage the Elephant are tied with Foo Fighters in fourth place for the most top spots on the Billboard Alternative songs chart. This week, Cage’s “Skin and Bones (Mix 2020)” skyrocketed to the top of the Alternative songs chart, giving the band their 10th No. 1 single to date. Their previous chart-toppers include “Come a Little Closer”, “Cigarette Daydreams”, “Shake Me Down”, and “Ready to Let Go”. Cage the Elephant and Foo Fighters are in good company at the top of the Billboard Alternative Chart. The only artists to score more No. 1 singles than them are Linkin Park in third place with 11 tracks, Green Day in second p...
