In 1991, Houston performed “The Star Spangled Banner” before the start of Super Bowl XXV (also in Tampa, FL), wearing a red-white-and-blue sweatsuit. The singer belted her way through the notoriously difficult song at the height of her fame, and won over audience’s hearts everywhere — the performance has gone on to be considered one of the best performances of the national anthem to date. Check out the photo of Sullivan wearing her Houston-inspired sweatsuit, and watch her performance of “The Star Spangled Banner” with Eric Church below: You Deserve to Make Money Even When you are looking for Dates Online. When you thought Jake from State Farm was a one-person show, he has a starry stand-in: Drake. In a new Super Bowl commercial, NFL superstars Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes and actors Paul Rudd and Adrian Martinez trade jabs about being each other’s on-air replacements. After Mahomes and Rodgers scoff at their lousy fill-ins — Rudd and Martinez, respectively — Jake quips about Drizzy serving as his second-stringer. Decked out in a red State Farm polo, Drake comically tries to mimic Jake’s famous jingle while at the snack table. Unfortunately for him, he struggles mightily and then allows the State Farm honcho to takeover. You Deserve to Make Money Even When you are looking for Dates Online. So we reimagined what a dating should be. It begins with givin...
“They play it every Super Bowl,” Strong insisted. “You all know it.” The pair then broke out in a duet — “Hot damn, I want score the winning goal/ You will, you’ll put it through the football hole” — that got some puzzled looks, until most of the people in the bar joined in on the Super Bowl show tune. The group even turned the football ditty it into a tap number behind the bar. Kenan Thompson, who Googled “Hot Damn” and could only find a very-unrelated song by Clipse, still wasn’t convinced this Super Bowl song was really a thing. But eventually, even he got “in the zone,” top hat and baton in hand. Watch the “Hot Damn” sketch below. You Deserve to Make Money Even When you are looking for Dates...
Unfortunately (or fortunately for Shelton and Stefani, who have been together since 2015 and got engaged in October of last year), Levine uses a spotty cellular network in the commercial, so what Adam hears Stefani say is very different. “I’m sick of L.A. guys, I want someone completely … country,” Levine hears her say, as his service cuts in and out. “Uncultured … and threatened by a strong confident woman.” Shelton quickly walks into frame, singing about his love of wings and nachos; “I have your guy,” Levine says. Once the two finally meet up for a dinner date they’re naturally confused — “I mean, no,” Stefani says of Shelton’s appearance, before pointing out that he wore spurs to a nice restaurant. “Did...
After all of the hype (and seemingly hundreds of commercials during the buildup), The Weeknd took the stage in Tampa for the Super Bowl Halftime Show and didn’t disappoint. The artist, also known as Abel Tesfaye, dazzled while performing songs from across his catalog. Backed by a choir and string section, The Weeknd opened up with “Starboy” from 2016’s album of the same name. Speaking of After Hours, the dancers on the field were all sporting the facial bandages that The Weeknd wore throughout the promotion of the album. Of course, he closed with “Blinding Lights.” As for the stage, it was set up away from the field and the backdrop looked like it was straight out of Vegas. Check it out below: [embedded content] Earlier in the day, a sketch featuring James Corden and The We...
Over the past few years, Miley Cyrus has established herself as a queen of covers. No one else in the mainstream pop realm has done what she has, reclaiming her energy through the lens of the past and making it new. On Plastic Hearts, that meant including her takes on “Zombie” and “Heart of Glass” as well as invited Billy Idol and Joan Jett to sing with her. On Sunday (February 7) ahead of Super Bowl LV, Miley once again cemented her status, bringing out Idol for a super-charged “Night Crawling” in front of a vaccinated crowd of 7,500 frontline workers. As part of the TikTok Tailgate party ahead of the kickoff, Miley and Idol naturally segued into Idol’s own “White Wedding” in the sunshine of Tampa, Florida. Cyrus brought her spirit via...
Coming next week is a brand-new, stacked EP from Rita Ora. Titled Bang, the new release will see her join forces with international superstars across a number of genres for one of her biggest bodies of work to date. On Twitter, the British vocalist announced the release date for her upcoming EP and shared the full list of collaborators set to appear. As shown in her post, Ora will be joined by electronic superstars, David Guetta and Imanbek, as well as global hip-hop icons, Gunna and KHEA. Unfortunately for fans, she has not released a tracklist or preview of the new EP, so it is not known what Bang will sound like or which artists will be working together. While the sound remains mysterious, in a recent interview with MTV Music UK, Ora shared insight on what it was like to record the albu...
SoundCloud is officially entering the world of esports with a new video game tournament. Dubbed, SoundCloud Player One, the online festivities will see eight artists compete against each other in the digital battlegrounds of Fortnite. The games will be hosted by Rico Nasty and professional esports commentator, MonsterDface. In addition to the in-game action, viewers will be treated to a special halftime performance from Rico Nasty. At the time of writing, it’s not yet known which artists will be featured in the games. Unfortunately, not much is known about the format of the competition as well. Considering each Fortnite game can host up to 100 players, some have questioned how the tournament will keep score with just eight competitors. SoundCloud Player One kicks off o...
In June of 2020, the English psychedelic pop band, Glass Animals, released “Heat Waves” as a single off their third album, Dreamland. Since its release, the song has garnered over 126 million streams on Spotify alone and took the top spot on Australia’s Triple J Hot 100 of 2020, making them the first British act to win since Mumford & Sons’ “Little Lion Man” in 2009. Further elevating the song’s success, Glass Animals has now recruited famed DJs, Oliver Heldens and Sonny Fodera, for a “Heat Waves” expansion pack. Oliver Heldens provides an uplifting and mainstream mix. The buildup feels like a giant invigorating inhale with its inspiring risers and rhythmic snares, while the drop uses a lively chord melody and robust house beat for an all-around ecstatic result. On a sim...
While most Super Bowl bets revolve around the game itself, a popular betting site is taking bets on the halftime entertainment. MyBookie gamblers have the option to bet on whether or not The Weeknd will be joined by any special guests during his halftime performance. Specifically, the gambling website is taking bets on who will be the first special guest to take the stage with The Weeknd. Users can bet on Daft Punk, Gesaffelstein, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Ariana Grande, and more. Seemingly due to the frequency of the rumors surrounding the French duo, the masked dance music legends have been given the best odds on the site out of all the artists listed. You can check out MyBookie’s halftime entertainment bets here.
Singer Ronnie James Dio joined BLACK SABBATH in 1979 which resulted in two back-to-back classic albums: “Heaven And Hell” and “Mob Rules”. On those memorable albums, Dio‘s soaring tenor and gothic songwriting were the perfect foil for the band’s bone-crushing mix of razor-sharp riffs, intense grooves, and dark imagery. Rhino salutes the long shadow cast by this short-lived lineup with newly remastered versions of both albums expanded with rare and unreleased music. “Heaven And Hell: Deluxe Edition” and “Mob Rules: Deluxe Edition” will be released separately on March 5. Each album will be available on 2-CDs ($19.98), or a 2-LPs ($31.98). Due to space constraints, both vinyl editions include a selection of bonus material from the CD...
