THE PRETTY RECKLESS’s TAYLOR MOMSEN ‘Was Not Emotionally Prepared To Handle’ CHRIS CORNELL’s Death

THE PRETTY RECKLESS frontwoman Taylor Momsen has once again reflected on how the deaths of SOUNDGARDEN singer Chris Cornell and longtime producer Kato Khandwala affected the making of THE PRETTY RECKLESS‘s new LP, “Death By Rock And Roll”. Momsen, whose band was the opening act for SOUNDGARDEN‘s spring 2017 run of dates, told “Elliot In The Morning” (hear audio below): “It was traumatic. We were there that night in Detroit [when Chris died]. We played the show with [SOUNDGARDEN]; we were opening for them. I said goodbye To Chris, gave him a hug. We stayed in the parking lot hanging out with the rest of the band — with Matt [Cameron] and Kim [Thayil] and Ben [Shepherd] — all night long, till bus call, and drove off to the next city. And we woke up t...

Panic! Attack: Our 2006 Panic! At the Disco Cover

This article originally appeared in SPIN in October 2006 It’s just past 2 A.M. some-where outside Detroit, and the tension on Panic! At the Disco’s tour bus would send the most devoted groupie scurrying. “I hate Jon,” ruminative guitarist and co-songwriter Ryan Ross quietly announces, referring to bassist Jon Walker. “I’ve never felt it this much.” As if on cue, Walker emerges from the bunk area into the front of the bus, where the rest of the band, plus some crew, are sitting, listening to Ross’ lament. With a mischievous smirk, the newest member deliberately inflames the situation. “I lost a ten-dollar bill in here,” he says, scanning the plush couches and snack-strewn kitchenette. That would be ten of the 1,400 bucks he has just won in C-Lo, a street dice game that the band members play...

Robert Fripp and Toyah Turn Guns N’ Roses’ “Welcome to the Jungle” into a Serpentine Workout: Watch

King Crimson founder Robert Fripp and his singer wife Toyah Willcox are back with another Sunday treat — a musical workout routine to the Guns N’ Roses classic “Welcome to the Jungle”. The couple’s last two “Sunday Lunch” quarantine performances — Metallica’s “Enter Sandman” and Billy Idol’s “Rebel Yell” — are closing in on a combined 5 million views. Those clips are as popular for Toyah’s revealing outfits as much as the couple’s quirky takes on the rock classics, and the trend continues for the GN’R cover. Fitness seems to be a central theme to the playful pair’s recent performances. After rocking an exercise bike (“Enter Sandman”) and a cheerleader routine (“Rebel Yell”), Toyah turns the focus on biceps with dumbbell curls, all while paying homage to Axl Rose’s signature snake dance. Fu...

Trapt Drummer Quits Band Over Singer’s MAGA Rants

Trapt made headlines in 2020 for the first time since they hit it big with their 2002 song “Headstrong”, but it wasn’t for their music. The group’s singer, Chris Taylor Brown, turned the band’s social media channels into a MAGA mega horn, and now it has resulted in the departure of drummer Michael Smith. Much like Donald Trump, Trapt’s Facebook and Twitter accounts were both suspended recently. Brown and company were knocked off Facebook for a pro-Proud Boys post, while Twitter shut the band’s feed down for a post that seemed to condone statutory rape. Those posts came after Brown questioned whether systemic racism exists, exclaiming, “Civil rights act was passed over 50 years ago. Move the f**k on!” He also called for the firing of Dr. Anthony Fauci, claiming the infectious disease expert...

Governors Ball Music Festival Announces Return in September 2021

Slowly but surely, festivals are announcing their (hopeful) returns. Governors Ball is the latest to do so, revealing its plans to come back to New York in September 2021.  Governors Ball was one of the first major festivals to cancel their 2020 iteration due to the impact of COVID-19, pulling the plug in January of last year. As vaccinations continue to be distributed, event producers Founders Entertainment are optimistic that this year’s edition of the fest will go on as scheduled. A representative told Billboard that the strategic decision to push the date to September was that it is “both more realistic and safer for all.” “While there are still question marks and unknowns in the world, rest assured that we are working closely with city and state autho...

“Hardwell On Air” Ends 10-Year Run With Landmark 500th Episode

Though Hardwell once said, “Never Say Goodbye,” the fact of the matter is that all chapters must come to an end at some point.  After 10 years and 500 episodes, Hardwell has officially ended his long-running radio show, “Hardwell on Air.” Since the Revealed Recordings label head has been on a touring hiatus since 2018, fans have flocked to the weekly series as a way to stay in the loop with the beloved electronic music artist. While the end of the radio show may come as a blow, fans will be happy to know that a new outlet is being launched in its stead.  During the final episode, Hardwell announced that Revealed Recordings has launched a new 24/7 Youtube live radio channel. Now, “Hardwell on Air” fans have access to a nonsto...

Watch Madeon Throw Down Epic Set at wwFEST: VALORANT

The new digital music festival wwFest: VALORANT debuted this past weekend with massive success. Hosted by Crown Channel and Riot Games, the event was marketed as a first-of-its-kind experimental convergence of gaming, live music, and street art. The stream reached nearly 4 million viewers across Twitch, YouTube, and Amazon during the 6-hour event last Friday.  One of the biggest standout performances of the night came from the headlining act, Madeon. Over the course of an hour, he expertly mixed tracks by REZZ, Porter Robinson, Gesaffelstein, Daft Punk, BROCKHAMPTON, Flume, Frank Ocean, and more with his iconic originals. Menna Drops Breezy House Bop “Show Me Your Love”

Toronto dance music producer Menna has dropped his third single, the breezy house bop “Show Me Your Love.” Released independently, “Show Me Your Love” is a poignant dance number that hearkens back to the idyllic, sun-soaked beach parties of pre-pandemic times. Menna makes use of dreamy piano chords and fluttering arpeggios to construct an aura of musical bliss, interweaving smooth vocals to add an extra layer of depth. He further flexes his production chops in the break, where he introduces a melancholic acoustic guitar segment that helps bring the track home as it creeps toward a soaring final chorus. “Show Me Your Love” is the third single to be dropped by the young Canadian beatmaker, who only seems to be getting better with each releas...

PISSING RAZORS Team Up With SKINLAB’s STEEV ESQUIVEL For Cover Of NAILBOMB’s ‘Wasting Away’

Texas metallers PISSING RAZORS have returned with their latest single and video, “Wasting Away” — a blistering interpretation of the NAILBOMB classic, featuring SKINLAB frontman Steev Esquivel on vocals. Clocking in at just under three minutes, the track is a continuation of the group’s raucous experimentation across the landscape of thrash, punk and metal. Crushing guest vocals courtesy of Esquivel are supported by angular, mean-sounding guitars from Mat Lynch — underscored by an explosive performance from rhythm section monsters Geo Gomez (bass) and Eddy Garcia (drums) that hurtles the song forward at breakneck speed. Joe Rodriguez steps up to the plate as the frontman PISSING RAZORS fans have been waiting for; equal parts pissed off lunatic and menacing vocalist able t...

DAVE MUSTAINE Mourns Loss Of ALEXI LAIHO: ‘Now The Heaven Heavy Metal Band Has Its Lead Guitar Player’

Dave Mustaine has paid tribute to former CHILDREN OF BODOM frontman Alexi Laiho, who died last month at the age of only 41. During the January 7 episode of his Gimme Radio program “The Dave Mustaine Show”, the MEGADETH leader said (hear audio below): “We had a tragic loss last week with my friend, and I’m sure a lot of your friend loss also. I’m sure a lot of you were friends with this gentleman too — Alexi Laiho from CHILDREN OF BODOM passed away. They didn’t really have anything to say about how he passed away other than he’d been battling some long-term illnesses. I knew him as a very gentle spirit with an amazing talent. In fact, when I was doing the ‘Symphony Interrupted’ performance [with the San Diego Symphony in April 2014], I w...
