AFI is back with their first new tunes since 2018’s The Missing Man EP ahead of the promised release of their upcoming album. After teasing earlier this month that their 11th studio album would be released by the end of the year, the quartet made good on their guarantee of new music “soon” by releasing “Twisted Tongues” and “Escape From Los Angeles” this morning. The two tracks pick up where the band left off following 2017’s self-titled release (also known as The Blood Album) and the aforementioned EP from the following year, with Davey Havok and his longtime crew fusing some experimental new steps into the tried and true AFI formula. It’s no surprise given the band’s evolution from borderline hardcore punk in the ’90s all the way through the emo movement of the 2000s and now bl...

Former Saved by the Bell star Dustin Diamond has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. A representative for Diamond told TMZ that the actor “has cancer throughout his body [and] he’s currently receiving his first round of chemotherapy.” The exact type of cancer was not disclosed. Diamond played the role of Samuel “Screech” Powers on Saved by the Bell throughout the show’s entire seven season run. He later reprised the character in the sequel series Saved by the Bell: The College Years. In the mid-2000s, Dustin infamously starred in a sex tape — though he later claimed to have used a “stunt double.”; became a reality TV personality; and published an unflattering portrait of his years on Saved by the Bell. The book, in particular, caused a riff between him and the rest of the show’s cast — and...
Selena Gomez has unveiled her new Spanish-language single “De Una Vez”, which translates to, “At Once.” Produced by Tanya (Bad Bunny, J Balvin), “De Una Vez” is her first Spanish effort since 2018’s “Taki Taki” with DJ Snake and Ozuna, and it’s her first such solo foray since 2014’s “Más”. The new song comes paired with a video created by Los Pérez—Tania Verduzco and Adrián Pérez. Watch it below. And there’s probably more where that came from; as PopBuzz notes, multiple murals have appeared around Mexico and Brazil with the words “Selena Gomez,” “De Una Vez,” and “Baila Conmigo,” the latter of which means “dance with me.” When fans posted pictures of these murals, Gomez’s social media accounts have been smashing the ‘like’ button. It’s unclear at this time if “Baila Conmigo” is a song...
“I don’t know if I could live without the crunch of a pickle,” Madeline Brewer says. The actress is talking through the food sounds she’d miss if she suddenly lost her sense of hearing, a threat that looms over her character’s companion in the new Hulu film, The Ultimate Playlist of Noise, out Friday (January 15). As Wendy, a singer-songwriter grappling with her chosen career’s diminishing returns, she finds a kindred wanderer in Marcus, a high-school student with a life-saving operation scheduled to remove tumors in his brain. An unfortunate complication, though, is that the surgery will render the music-obsessed, playlist-making Marcus, played by Euphoria’s Keean Johnson, completely deaf. No more doubling up on headphones for both music and ambiance. “What if you want to liste...
THE PRETTY RECKLESS frontwoman Taylor Momsen spoke to Meltdown of Detroit’s WRIF radio station about the band’s upcoming album, “Death By Rock And Roll”, which will be made available on February 12 via Fearless Records in the U.S. and Century Media Records in the rest of the world. Asked if it’s true that the LP was completed before THE PRETTY RECKLESS even signed with the two record companies that are releasing the effort, Taylor said (see video below): “Yes — yes and no. I don’t know how to exactly get into this. I’m very controlling, for lack of a better word, when it comes to the artistic side of things. I make music for myself, and I don’t like people in my ear telling me what I can or can’t do, or have to change. So I like t...
During an appearance on a video podcast hosted by Todd Kerns, the bassist of SLASH FEATURING MYLES KENNEDY AND THE CONSPIRATORS, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH bassist Chris Kael talked about how he has been dealing with the coronavirus pandemic. He said (see video below): “My last show that I played was [on February 22, 2020 on a European tour] in Sofia, Bulgaria, with us and MEGADETH. So, you’re, like, ‘This is great. Sofia, Bulgaria. This where they recorded the ‘Big Four’ live DVD. This is great. I’m excited.’ Then you come home. And we were just ahead of the curve of all the COVID stuff that was happening. I know Italy blew up the week after we were there. And it was a smaller place that we played there. I remember it being really hot, really sweaty....
In a new interview with Bloodstream Radio, legendary German guitarist Michael Schenker was asked what keeps him motivated to write and play music after 50 years in the business. He responded (hear audio below): “I never take from trends; if anything, I created a trend. In the ’80s, people were copying my guitar style, and they actually overexposed it to the point when I was playing my guitar style, it was already heard over and over. “I discovered very early in my life the infinite inner spring of creativity — being yourself, being Michael Schenker. Everybody can do this, but it’s just a matter of choice. Do you wanna [follow] a commercial trend that will guarantee you commercial success and make you money and [get you] fame and [put you] in the limelight, et cetera...
During an appearance on the “No Guitar Is Safe” podcast, former GUNS N’ ROSES guitarist Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal was asked to name one of the solos that he enjoyed playing the most during his time with the band. He responded (hear audio below): “There was a lot of stuff on [the] ‘Chinese Democracy’ [album] — just being able to play my own parts with the band, it felt good. There is something to be said about that — when you get to play something that you came up with, that you wrote, that you recorded.” He continued: “As much as I loved playing the other songs, which everybody loves, and you’re there to please the audience; you wanna make them happy and you wanna deliver those songs the way they love them and not rewrite anythi...
Sylvain Sylvain, the longtime guitarist for glam rock pioneers New York Dolls, has died at the age of 69. In 2019, a GoFundMe was launched for Sylvain after he was diagnosed with cancer. The news of Sylvain’s death was confirmed in a post on his personal Facebook page. “As most of you know, Sylvain battled cancer for the past two and 1/2 years. Though he fought it valiantly, yesterday he passed away from this disease. While we grieve his loss, we know that he is finally at peace and out of pain. Please crank up his music, light a candle, say a prayer and let’s send this beautiful doll on his way,” the statement read. Longtime Patti Smith guitarist and rock journalist Lenny Kaye penned an essay that was included in the same post. “Syl loved rock and roll. His onstage joy, his radiant s...
The “Hot Shower” rapper shared her video and wrote, “THIS IS GOING TO BE SO GOOD FOR SO MANY!! THANK YOU DIONNE THE SINGER!! WE GON MAKE A DIFFERENCE WITH THIS ONE!!” His message teased their iconic Twitter exchange from December when she asked him point blank, “Hi, @chancetherapper. If you are very obviously a rapper why did you put it in your stage name? I cannot stop thinking about this.” “I am now Dionne the Singer,” she announced in a subsequent tweet. The name drop left the rapper rather speechless, but that’ll soon change when they finally start recording “Nothing’s Impossible” together. Warwick previously announced that The Weeknd would join them on their charity single, but she nor Chance m...
