The Kings of Quarantine — the appropriately named collaboration between members of Mastodon and Slaves on Dope that covered Faith No More in October — are back with a collection of their friends for a brand new take on an old tune. Whereas last time saw them collaborate with members of Korn, Anthrax, Refused and more, this month’s rendition of Jane’s Addiction’s “Mountain Song” comes with the help of Wes Borland (Limp Bizkit), P-Nut (311), Bert McCracken (The Used), Tanner Wayne (In Flames), Louise Post (Veruca Salt) and Richard Patrick (Filter). Is watching a variety of musicians record their parts in their homes or personal studios and then mix them all together into one semi-cohesive track as strange as it seems? Yes. Is it a fitting representation of where we’re at with ...

In the tape, a young Megan Pete made her case as to why she should be a cast mem...
At a virtual event over the weekend, Dr. Anthony Fauci said that theaters, among other performing arts venues, could once again host events as early as the fall. Fauci shared his time horizon during a conference hosted by the Association of Performing Arts Professionals. “If everything goes right, this is will occur some time in the fall of 2021,” he said, “so that by the time we get to the early to mid-fall, you can have people feeling safe performing onstage as well as people in the audience.” The Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases was careful to caveat his timeline. He stated that the timetable would be incumbent upon a successful vaccine rollout, which will ultimately lead to herd immunity. He suggested that the level of immunization n...
In what has the looks of the end of an era, famed dubstep artist Flux Pavilion has announced that he is moving on from the genre. The longtime dubstep tastemaker recently took to Twitter to announce that he is “no longer a dubstep person,” sending ripples through his avid fanbase. In a follow-up tweet in response to a fan who asked about the impetus behind his departure, Flux Pavilion said that he simply doesn’t find joy in writing dubstep at this juncture. “Ah I just don’t really enjoy writing it anymore,” he wrote. “I’ve spent 10 years exploring it and now it feels right to move on.” With iconic dubstep tracks such as “Bass Cannon” and the timeless “I Can’t Stop,” Flux Pavilion has long been championed as...
Dubstep fans are in for quite a treat after Sullivan King spilled the beans on a new collaboration with fellow bass music star Excision. The dubstep titans have collaborated twice in years past, teaming up in 2018 for “Fight Through The Pain” and “Wake Up.” Those tracks represented a bit of a contrast with their melodic and heavy-hitting sound design, respectively, and if King’s announcement is any indication, this third collaboration will have elements of both. Sully took to Twitter to exult in the vocals of the unreleased track, using the perfect emoji to illustrate his point. Check out the tweet below. Sully sent the dubstep community into a frenzy with the tweet, but he didn’t stop there. He in a follow-up post, he offered fans a hint of what t...
The mysterious Versa has made quite an impression as of late. With a slew of self-releases and some impressive works like “Welcome Tune” and “Death Stomp” on Circus Records, Versa was long overdue to feature on DPMO, FuntCase‘s new record imprint. That happened last year, when Versa dropped his DPMO debut, “Kill Confirmed.” Now, the elusive producer has returned to the label with a massive riddim belter called “The Pit,” premiered exclusively today via EDM.com. Fusing elements of classic dubstep (à la “YOI”) with skillful, upfront production, Versa delivers an all-out riot of a tune with “The Pit.” A simple kick-clap pattern with subdued cymbals is more than enough to carry the intense, electrifying basses and sy...
The Pitch: At the outset of COVID-19 lockdown in London, Linda (Anne Hathaway) and her longtime partner Paxton (Chiwetel Ejiofor) have broken up. Unfortunately, they’re still quarantined together, and they’re both experiencing career crises — hers over a heartless but lucrative corporate job, his over what he sees as dead-end prospects. Their various neuroses come together when they’re presented with an unusual opportunity to pull off a daring heist. COVID: The Movie: Locked Down is the second big-studio-style movie conceived, produced, and released entirely during the pandemic, after last year’s woeful Songbird. Screenwriter Steven Knight wrote it in the fall; director Doug Liman shot it in the fall; and now it’s hitting HBO Max just months after principal photography wrapped. Though some...

The Kings of Quarantine — a collective spearheaded by Slaves on Dope members Jason Rockman and Kevin Jardine along with Mastodon guitarist Bill Kelliher — are back with an all-star cover of the Jane’s Addiction classic “Mountain Song”. This time around, they’re joined by members of Limp Bizkit, 311, Filter, Veruca Salt, The Used, and In Flames. Kelliher and Jardine are joined on guitar by Limp Bizkit’s Wes Borland, while vocals are handled by Rockman, Veruca Salt’s Louise Post, Filter’s Richard Patrick, and The Used’s Bert McCracken. The rhythm section is made up of 311’s P-Nut on bass and In Flames’ Tanner Wayne on drums. The singers all do an admirable job on the challenging tune, as “Mountain Song” is one of Perry Farrell’s finest vocal moments in Jane’s Addiction. McCracken’s turn is e...
