TESLA bassist Brian Wheat, who is promoting his recently released autobiography, “Son Of A Milkman: My Crazy Life With Tesla”, spoke to Metal Express Radio about his relationship with the band’s former guitarist Tommy Skeoch. “With all fairness, there were times where he could be a lot of fun,” Brian said (hear audio below). “There were also a lot of times where he was a complete asshole. It just got too much, man. And not just me — with everyone. I mean, I didn’t throw him out of the band — he was voted out unanimously. He likes to say afterwards that I did this and I did that, and he takes these shots at me when he takes his interviews. He called me an elephant and said I couldn’t play the bass, and shit like that. And it’s just, like...
During a new appearance on “The Fred Minnick Show”, ANTHRAX guitarist Scott Ian was asked if he thinks heavy metal “got a really bad rap in the mainstream culture” in the 1990s. He responded (see video below): “Yeah. But even more so in the ’80s, when you had the PMRC — you know, Tipper Gore and housewives who decided that we were dangerous for the youth of America. That’s when Dee Snider and Frank Zappa went to Capitol Hill and testified in front of Congress and all that, because they wanted to put warning stickers on albums — that whole thing. And the best part about it is that at the end of the day, there was some compromise made and the labels decided they would put content warning stickers on records, and that enabled us to sell more albums be...
In a recent interview with Matt Coe of Dead Rhetoric, ACCEPT guitarist Wolf Hoffmann discussed the departure of longtime bassist and co-songwriter Peter Baltes in November 2018. He has since been replaced by Martin Motnik. ACCEPT‘s lineup has also been expanded with the addition of a third guitarist, Philip Shouse, who originally filled in for Uwe Lulis during the 2019 “Symphonic Terror” tour, before being asked to join the band permanently. “I was sad more than anything,” Wolf said. “I was a bit heartbroken, to be honest. I wasn’t really surprised when it happened; I was more surprised how it happened. I thought we would have this big sitdown and talk things over, convince him to stay. We could tell he really wasn’t in it anymore, his heart ...
Alexi Laiho‘s wife has thanked his fans for their support, two days after the former CHILDREN OF BODOM frontman’s death was made public. On Tuesday (January 5), Australian-born Kelli Wright-Laiho, who has previously worked as a publicist for various extreme metal bands, took to her Instagram to post a black square, and she wrote in an accompanying message: “Thank you all so much for your beautiful energy and support. Understandably, as you are, we’re completely broken but wanted you to know, We love and appreciate you all so much.” When Alexi‘s death was first announced on Monday (January 4), Kelli called him “the most loving and magnificent husb...
With ’80s nostalgia in full swing, thanks to TV shows such as Cobra Kai and movies like Wonder Woman 1984, a new Knight Rider movie is of course in the works. While David Hasselhoff is not directly attached to the movie, he is hoping that the filmmakers stay true to the spirit of the original TV series. Hasselhoff starred as Michael Knight alongside a talking car named KITT in the original Knight Rider TV series, which aired from 1982 through 1986 on NBC. While the show has been revived in the form of various TV movies and a 2008 reboot series, it hasn’t gotten the full big-budget film treatment — until now. As Deadline reported over the summer, a big-screen Knight Rider movie is currently being developed by Spyglass Films. Producers James Wan (Furious 7, Saw) and Michael Clear (MacGy...
The Griselda Records universe continues to grow, and with this expansion comes the collective’s first-ever feature film, Conflicted. Directed by AK Reed with a script from Deuce King, the upcoming “urban tale” depicts longtime label artist Benny the Butcher as a Buffalo gangster trying to get his life back on track after spending time behind bars. As to be expected, the movie comes with a soundtrack by a bunch of gold-tiered Griselda talent, including Westside Gunn, who appears on a new cut titled “The Hurt Business”. Today’s offering features additional contributions from Smoke DZA and Wale, but the spotlight shines firmly on Westside and the gritty story he weaves. Painting a graphic scene of the vicious streets of Buffalo, he raps over an old-school production, “Blow his brains out...

Raphael Warnock will determine which party controls the Senate. If the Democrats win both races, each party will have 50 seats in Congress’ upper chamber. Xiami is one of the smaller digital music services in China. While user numbers are not publicly available, Xiami’s music penetration was less than 2% in 2019, with about five million Monthly Active Users in mainland China, according to local Chinese reports. The country’s biggest streaming platforms are QQ Music, Kugou Music, Kuwo Music and WeSing, all owned by tech giant Tencent Music Entertainment Group. Collectively those four services have more than 800 million users, says Tencent. Tencent’s biggest competitor is NetEase Cloud Music, operated by Chinese internet company NetEase, which claims to have more than 600 million registered users. Xiami and NetEase Cloud Music cut a deal in 2018 for the streaming services to share libraries and grow their respective repertoires — a move seen a...
