Source: Bernard Smalls / @PhotosByBeanz Of course, another Karen couldn’t let the year come to an end without making an absolute scene drenched in racism. The latest Karen incident took place over the weekend involving a “distressed” white woman getting her, according to Apple Care, on running to an NYC hotel manager accusing a Black teen of stealing her iPhone. The teen’s father, Grammy Award-winning Jazz trumpeter Keyon Harrold shared a video of irate Becky going absolute nuts accusing his son of jacking her iPhone. In the video, she is vehemently trying to convince the hotel manager without a shred of evidence that the phone in the teen’s possession is hers. Harrold can be heard in the video saying she should turn on the “find my iPhone” feature, and she replies, again with no evidence ...
Source: JEFF KOWALSKY / Getty Lil Pump is only re-affirming his allegiance to Donald Trump and the MAGA cult. The struggle rapper has been reportedly banned from JetBlue airlines for refusing to wear a mask. To be clear, wearing a mask should be political. It’s about doing your due diligence to at least aid in trying to stop the spread of COVID-19, which has killed millions, during a global pandemic. Nevertheless, the “Gucci Gang” rapper, who Donald Trump couldn’t even get his name right, didn’t want to be bothered. According to TMZ, JetBlue says it has banned the rapper from its flights because he refused to wear a mask while on board. Reportedly, Pump became “verbally abusive” with crew members during a flight from Fort Lauderdale to Los Angeles on Saturday (Dec. 26). Allegedly, Pump too...
Cyclops Recordings looks primed for an absolutely monster 2021. Subtronics‘ new record label pumped out a bevy of wild bass tracks to close out 2020, and it is keeping its foot on the gas pedal with its newest release. The Marble Room, the debut EP from electronic young gun Space Wizard, has been announced as the imprint’s first-ever EP release. The producer has been red-hot as of late, dropping mind-melting tracks on Wakaan and Subsidia, the new bass music label recently launched by Excision. He took to social media to share a preview of the project, which is a three-track triple shot of experimental trap music that sounds like it was produced using a radio frequency module to contact aliens. Earlier in the month of December, Subtronics revealed his new imprint ...
For the sixth episode of the animated series inspired by the popular mobile game Arknights, developers tapped Steve Aoki and RUNN to soundtrack their narrative back in July. The result was the wobble-heavy bass track “Last Of Me” and its accompanying music video. Now, the duo is back with new recruits, Yellow Claw, for the seventh episode’s theme song. Titled “End Like This,” the new collaboration will help celebrate the game’s first anniversary. Like the previous theme, RUNN leads the charge with an empowering vocal offering. Moving away from the bassier side of the electronic music spectrum, the new release is decidedly less heavy than its predecessor. While still appropriate for the epic scale of the story it represents, the song would likely fi...

Fabled UK garage and drum & bass producer Flava D is the latest high-profile collaborator to be linked with Skrillex. After she recently hosted an “ask me anything” Q&A session with fans on her Instagram, one of her responses about the Grammy Award-winning “Bangarang” producer sent ripples through the EDM community. When a fan randomly and overtly asked her to collaborate with Skrillex, Flava D replied with a cryptic yet expressive confirmation that a joint effort between the two does in fact exist. “Funny you say that…..” she wrote, also tagging Skrillex in her response, perhaps as a nudge to release it soon. The post was one of a slew of Instagram Stories posted by Flava D, who also shared production tips, information about...
Alex Skolnick spoke to Italy’s Poisoned Rock about his time away from TESTAMENT in the 1990s and early 2000s, including how he changed his life completely by moving to New York, studying jazz, and forming the ALEX SKOLNICK TRIO, which is still playing jazz today. “After TESTAMENT, I didn’t wanna be stuck just being the ex-guitarist of TESTAMENT,” the guitarist said (see video below). “I was very proud of my work, but I know people try to put you in a category, and they say that’s all you are. And I’ve always been very open as a musician — I don’t need to just play thrash metal, [and] I don’t need to just play with thrash metal musicians. So I moved far away — I moved away from the whole scene. I moved to the East Coast, New York, and I ...

The $900 billion stimulus bill that President Trump finally signed into law on Sunday evening includes funding for independent music venues that have been closed throughout the pandemic. The long-overdue $900 billion stimulus deal bill includes “$15 billion in dedicated funding for live venues, independent movie theaters, and cultural institutions,” according to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. Earlier today, FOO FIGHTERS frontman Dave Grohl — whose band played a very special acoustic set this past October in support of the Save Our Stages act — took to the FOO FIGHTERS social media to write: “A huge, heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported the Save Our Stages Act, which passed yesterday as a part of the economic stimulus b...
During an appearance on a recent episode of “The Ron Keel Podcast”, acclaimed hard rock singer Jeff Scott Soto (SONS OF APOLLO, TALISMAN, JOURNEY, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN) was asked how he feels about that “fine line” that artists always have to walk between speaking their minds on political issues and entertaining. He responded (hear audio below): “It’s kind of in the same context of ‘know the gig, keep the gig.’ I realized there’s too much divisiveness or dividing of thoughts and feelings and emotions. And I’m not one to stop being a friend or stop talking to a family member because their views are different than mine — unless you’re talking about pedophilia, unless you’re talking about something so extreme, like, ‘We...
